As I have said the tipping point has been past and everything is crumbling
Intel stuck on 14nm with big power hungry designs for two more years
Best case is intel 10nm starts limited volume in 2018 with eye popping costs and hit to margins.
Stacy already set the stage with his update. He can now say Intel legally disclosed the disaster.
X86 volumes show no slowdown and Intel runs smaller factories underloaded with ever increasing cost.
Intel attacks high volume IoT, memory, modems but they are all low margin with ruthless and lean competition.
The last bastion is servers with highway robbery margins is now assaulted and you bet FB, Amazon, Google and others can't wait to tell BK and th sever sales team to take their pricing and shove it up their a$$ as ARMy has arrived!
The walled virtuous cycle is gone.
As in another article TSMC and Samsung both ramping 10nm at larger volumes than Intel. TSMC will have 7nm next year. So expect 96 core 7nm server in 2018 while Intel just starts going on 10nm.
Talk about a totally phucked company. A few people suggested Intel is too big to implode. Really look at DEC and it didn't face the nasty situation intel does.
Anyone really doubt the tipping point has passed and looking for a lifeboat shouldn't be your priority?
