Simple. You cost Xerox more money to keep than a temp. Now they don't have to pay you a salary and benefits. A temp would just get a cheaper salary and do the same amount of work as you do. A win for Xerox.
After 10 years of service got my IRIF!
Not really upset just didnt understand how I was let go and the temp was still there?
i got out 10 years ago..saw the writing on the wall
Xerox
Xerox, much like HP last year, is splitting its business into two — the first will focus on printing services, payment processing, and digitizing paper documents, while the second looks to outsource things such as HR, customer care, and accounting.
When the change was announced, CEO Ursula Burns said the goal of the split was to create a leaner and more efficient company, and with layoffs on the horizon, “leaner” will certainly be the case.
Xerox president Jeff Jacobson says the layoffs are coming, but specifics on how many is still up in the air. According to CNN, those most likely to be impacted are the 39,000 employees at the company’s legacy copier business.
Don't worry about Ursula though, she made 10 million dollars in compensation last year.
Technology is rapidly changing. So fast that it's putting people out of jobs.
You got played.
Wait so XEROX WEBSTER still operating? i was told they were closing down when they made the announcement june 1st 2016. I was laid off from Xerox Cerritos, Aug 4, 2016
Copiers and printers are simple commodities at this point. No matter how we spin solutions and technology it's still a printer, copier or MFD.
Layoffs are happening quietly across the company and wont be stopping anytime soon. Update that resume and refresh your skills while you can because in this industry there's no such thing as a secure job or position.
It's all about corporate greed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Employees are the donkeys chasing after the dangling carrot corporate is providing.
Trump isn't going to do anything about our lost jobs. I got laid off 2009 in Chicago after 20+ years of service! There have been other lay offs since too. Now I hear they outsources even more jobs to Guatamala!! I don't hear anything about senior managers and top brass hurting at all. Burns has millions and thinks nothing of outsourcing! The rich get richer and the middle class are left in the dust! It truely is GREED people and that is pure b---s---!
After 49 folks decided to take the voluntary (VRIF) package in April another 17 of us received layoff (IRIF) notice June 1, 2016. This group now at 81 lost over 25% of their personnel. My 20+ years of loyal service didn't matter, only the bottom line. I am an employee who out performed consistantly vs my sales budget and earned President Club 7 times. Its a sad day that a company once so great has fallen so far. The SLT management is so out of touch with both employees and customers. The interal employee survey this year was the worst in company history. How did senior leadership team respond? Layoffs of course. All time lowest employee moral. More to come Jan 1st. Good luck to you that have survived and Merry Christmas.

Get enough people for Class action lawsuit.
Xerox laying off senior 26+ year union workers and keeping people with much less time Like 6 or 7 yrs based on a dumb TABE test, that has absolutely Nothing to do with your jobs. Then on top of all that, Xerox got rid of all the work qualifiers and certificates that we All had to get and earn over 25 plus yrs ago, that Did have to do with our jobs more. Its discrimination against the senior union working class people. No other union or company has ever loss jobs before based on a stupid non work related TABE test before, and throwing the senior workers qualifiers and certificates that they earned away before. You lose jobs based on seniority only, when cutting back. Xerox wants the old wage veterans pay rate and their pensions gone and keep younger low wage personel on board. Pure discrimination against hard working senior class people of all backrounds and ethnicity. Plus the TABE test is suppose to get you a higher classification job opportunity, BUT..with absolutely No pay increase. What a bunch of crooked greedy phoneys. Lawsuit time people!!
What a joke....
Trump cannot help a company whos CEO destroyed it by outsourcing. There is nothing left of Joe Wilsons legacy
Trump has nothing to do with how far the former CEO flushed this once great company. Anything that could have saved us was outsourced, much over the last 8 years. No they do not care about us anymore, but I wish they would have offered everyone a VRIF, not just management.
Every one just got played. Try justifying it however you want. In the end we all suffer.
There is 4400 positions that are still unfilled in his administration, they are behind. The holidays are coming. I think he'd have hard time thinking about us right now. He's fighting China over Taiwan, is in a fight with Carrier Union (USW 1099) etc - we are not high on his priority list
Call Trump. He should be able to save our jobs or screw Xerox.
