Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

DON'T Believe your Manager and start applying for jobs two months before focal

Your Manager will lie and tell Intel is all good. Don't listen, they told the same thing during the layoffs. To the young people, start looking for a decent job. Ask yourself why many of your colleagues are gone after ACT.

Yes, @1vkl. I ERPed so received it from the IRO (Intel Retiree Organization). I'm no longer inside so figured employees got it somehow (Circuit, email). I can't imagine we got it first since we're more of an 'FYI' when it comes to comms.

Then again, it wouldn't surprise me if employees are the last to know. lol My guess is you'll see it when they hand out your new WW calendars which should go out soon (but probably won't since they are always late).

It was dated 12/7 with the subject line of "Important time critical message from Intel". Honestly? My first thought was it was going to announce BK retiring. Instead I had a WTF reaction when I read it (like I cared about the wording of the Values, especially "time critial" since I'm no longer on the inside. Just odd of you ask me.

I THINK your email subject might have said "A message from Brian Krzanich" which might have gotten ignored (AKA 'deleted'). Go look for it. There was more in it than what I posted.

BK is just lying his a$$ off as he has been doing ever since he became CEO. Dln't trust anything that comes out of the guy's mouth.

BK I was an URM that got laid off and replaced by cheaper H1Bs. SSL4 based on lies, does that make Intel inclusive?

@KJqiuTD-1jpb. BK seriously sent this out?

Every employee should look and ask themselves is the CEO a little disingenuous

@1jpb, to be accurate, you just need to add Don't at the beginning of each item.

Inclusive is just code word for URM or Ind. last item should just be "Be an a-- ..."

GPTW is now yesterday's term. It's been changed to:

*The value of “Great Place to Work” will be changed to “An Inclusive, Great Place to Work” and some additional sub-bullets will be modified and added to clarify the value.

An Inclusive, Great Place to Work

  • Create an inclusive work environment that fosters diversity.

  • Treat one another equally, with dignity and respect.

  • Be open and direct.

  • Promote a challenging work environment that develops our workforce

  • Work as a team with respect and trust for each other.

  • Win and have fun.

  • Recognize and reward accomplishments.

  • Manage performance fairly and firmly.

  • Be an asset to our communities worldwide.*

as per BK's email of today.

Mid-feb is the time to move. Go now and you'll get reamed for leaving your team. Wait till focal is locked in

Yep, happened to me as well. In Jan, manager said I was doing a great job and that my Focals should be good. Few months later, Given SSL4 and Bam, got ISPed. Bastard!

next year?! save your selves THIS YEAR. @swt is right assuming you're safe this year. what OP is saying happened to me as well. February/March, the manager said everything is hunky dory, i'm going to give you expanded roles and responsibilities. Come April -- i am out on ISP like nobody's business. Manager claim it was a surprise. Take the OP's advise, start looking for new jobs OUTSIDE of Intel come Spring. Leave on your own terms.

@KJqiuTD-swt Totally correct about not letting manager know before R&R.

Everyone has too little stock and money to give and saves it for those that stay.

If you are above average be assured you will get as little as they can get away with. Forget promotions or positive stock. They will say we can't set you up for bad next year.

If you are just a tad below average be sure you will get the below average raise and stock. Maybe even the ACT inspiring L4/L5 .

I had my factory manager and this VP reject and force my to pull promotions as well as above average stock and pay for outstanding and so deserving employees because they were leaving.

Intel focal is the worse of the worse and with silent ACTs of past the whole process this year is guaranteed to be a cluster FUBAR of positioning to minimize each group's risk to algorithmic layoffs.

For that we have BK and Richard to thank! An unfair system made more totallly unfair! What a company and leaders

Correct, OP! Intel mgmt is simply a breeding ground for the worst, lying scumbags on the planet.

Haha. Intel is just a fad of the past. Now they are being passed by every Pacific Rim technology company. BK and his goons have seen that the failures will continue without any new advanced. The worker bees are so demoralized since they are on a long losing streak and cannot even buy a win. FLM and SLM continue to toil and are digging their own graves. Maybe in two years Intel will be down to just servers with 40K employee base. TMG is an utter failure and has nowhere to go but down.

OP, you don't know how focal works; I was a mid-level manager.

If someone leaves their role before the end of January, they increase the chances their chances of feeding the loser-pool in the focal process (the manager's rational thought: why should I use my sub-optimal levels of focal stock/money budget to reward someone who's leaving?).

The thoughtful employee will leave just after focal is locked - say, the middle of February - and then work their buttocks off to ensure they're not "the new kid on the block" for the next focal.

Just sayin'....

To the young and old, look around every manger will be REQUIRED to do performance management. EVERY rank group will make distribution for IR and L4 and L5.

As you all know that all algorithms like 2 out of 3 and time in grade have been applied and used up. Expect all IR L4 and L5 are getting fired this focal. Look around are you just a bit slower, on job a long time without promo, not the go to guy and just your average. Well would you rather have options already to go before you are selected or scamble with a few weeks of salary and couple months of Cobra. You will be the go to guy your manger selects for ACT2 o save your managements and BKs a$$.

You don't think it will happen? Look how much money Intel made in 2015 and 2016 and they still went to the ax. Growth isn't back, they hired a bunch of really expensive executives to lead commodity low margin initiatives. You got a crazy expensive 10nm that is slipped schedule by years says what 2017 and 2018 look like! No reductions in expenses will cover volume drop, commodity initiatives and the expensive executive hires as well as continued new RCGs

Everyone should reflect and have a back up plan as Intel has already hit the iceberg and its fate is all but sealed. The only question are you first or last off and do you have a lifeboat you get into on your terms or hope to be pulled out of the thousands screaming in the cold water for a rescue in the next ACT?
