Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

So why did BK hire Murthy, a supposedly mobile guru, just for Murthy to tell him...

...to can atom??? Kind of an expensive way to end a project.

Every company makes decisions that they will live and die by.

You have stop gap Kaby and Coffee in the wings but they can't hold the company against the ARMy onslaught. IoT, modems, memory and everything will crumble if 10nm doesn't come.

Today all intel future products survival are predicted on 10nm ramp. Billions upon billions in capital sit on and waiting .....

Design and validation by the thousands wait.....

Yup the boats are burned as the TMG leader likes to say but I ask is the island about to slip under? What no talk of Prius anymore ?

Intel actually needs to burn more boats sooner. After 20 years at Intel, I see more and more failed projects just lingering around when they should have been killed years ago.

I have heard top managers (especially SA) resort to the 'burn the boats' mantra when faced with a huge challenge usually caused by their own F-up...Atom is the boat. They actually think this will motivate people to work even harder and find a solution faster.

Maybe Murthy is still employed by qualcomm. His objective is once at Intel, to fvk up Intel as best as he can, the same way he almost did at QCT
