Microsoft bringing full Windows 10 to ARM devices with Qualcomm partnership

http://www.geekwire.com/2016/microsoft-bringing-full-windows-10-arm-devices-qualcomm-partnership/

Witness the power of this armed and fully operational battle station.

Microsoft sees the writing on the wall. They know Intel has lost technology leadership and are planning ahead.

Intel could cut 50% of the headcount and never come close to matching Huawei on overhead cost. The case studies on the demise of Intel will certainly cover the company's history, but PSO and Bad Karma will deserve special attention. Good riddance Intel and the morons that destroyed this once great company.

@KKsfEYm-hdz intel won't slowly fade away it will implode at 10nm and be the subject of WSJ, CNN, NYT and many technology sites and bloggers as how they thru epic arrogance and missmanagemt lost the virtuous cycle and the technology kindom.

They are the semicondor equal to Nokia/Blackberry as TSCM and Samsung rise as Apple and Samsung did relevance. The greatest irony is what crushes them was a new virtuous cycle that they were so familiar with . Huge scale and OS ecosystems ALWAYs wins. Nobody should know that better than intel but their arrogance got the better of them.

The new era belongs to cloud, phones and IoT all belonging to ARMy, where is intel here? like DEC, Blackberry or Kodak looking in from outside.

Intel fall will be fast as once you lose the virtuous cycle it happens fast. Actually the bigger you are the faster you fall. You need scale and once it is gone the whirlpool dissappears and all goes down the drain and poof busted balance sheet on 20nm and dead 7nm.

This isn't a GM like problem but Kodak/Blackberry. Once center of the world, next day nobody cares. ARMy in servers if it is just 80% as good Amazon, FB, MS, will all go as they know the future is set. Intel no ARM and no competitive anything with busted cost structure is totally a phucked

Tipping point past and as you all know once done no recovery. Those close and smart they know... just can't believe the Titanic huge misfortune with no hope

😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

Yup.

TSMC and Samsung will start fabbing processors for fully compatible windows laptops.

Who needs x86 or Intel and their overpriced battery s---ing silicon?

Look for these ARM processors to start outperforming Intel as the foundries exceed Intel. 10nm, 7nm, 5nm all while Intel is stuck on 14nm and may get stuck on 10nm for 5 years.

This opens the door for mediatek, Samsung, Huawei and any other company to build fully compatible laptops with potentially their own custom SOCs.

Look for Intel margins to take a huge nosedive. Contra revenue for Core i7 LOL!

Intel is fcked, its demise brought about by its own arrogance that managed to push away its once greatest ally (MS) into QCOM territory. How different it would have been if Intel had embraced ARM back in 2006 and developed its own line of XScale ARM chips instead of selling the division. What did we get in its place? The turd that is Atom. Intel had everything lined up to dominate the world and blew it. Now it will just fade away slowly into oblivion ...

ARM-Based Windows 10 Portable PCs!? Hell Yes!

https://www.thurrott.com/windows/windows-10/86298/arm-based-windows-10-portable-pcs-hell-yes

“What we’re really providing here is choice,” Microsoft executive vice president Terry Myerson told me earlier this week. “And Qualcomm chipsets have two major advantages that our PC maker partners and customers have been asking for: Incredible battery life and efficient, integrated cellular connectivity.”

Of course, you may be thinking, hold on a second here. I’ve read this story before. This is just Windows RT again, right?

Wrong.

This is full Windows 10 for PCs, not some stripped down version. It’s Windows 10 Home and Pro, on ARM. And Windows 10 Enterprise, with all the functionality that businesses expect, including domain join. This is Windows RT done right.

Even better, Windows 10 on ARM will supply a long-rumored feature: The ability to run 32-bit Win32/x86 desktop applications—Apple iTunes, Adobe Photoshop, Google Chrome, whatever—directly on the system, unchanged.

Brilliance.. there are billions of ARM devices versus a couple hundred million x86.

Microsoft knows who has won, tipping point is past. Intel's future is totally phucked
