1byv-- Good advice. Too bad SHC didn't take it. They have so much debt and are getting divorced from their employees, their vendors, their stock holders, reality and existence.

re: worst investments- you are right. we never go in debt for a vehicle and paid our house off years ago. Did I say how glad I am for NOT being young again. Sure, my hair would be thicker and I'd be more 'in the know' But younger? I Thank God everyday that my son and his one and only wife raise my grandkids to be self sufficient and THINK! I am not stupid and did not raise my son stupid and he is a blessing and his wife ,too. I always told them that money debts would kill a family/marriage faster than anything and only the divorce lawyers would profit. WORK HARD, LIVE RIGHT AND DO NOT HAVE DEBT! as for Kmart... they are real close to losing me after so many years. It is just too insane

Nah, your not stupid for still being there. This is an opportunity for you to be able to tell your grandkids how when you were young you had to work with no raises, no modern computers, no heat in the winter and no A/C in the summer. You can tell them how you had to fix things in the store yourself and how the roof leaked, mice and roaches ran wild, the toilets didn't flush and the floor tiles were peeling up. You can tell them about the hardships and dangers you faced every day, with no leadership, incompetent managers and DM's. How you overcame the endless meetings that almost killed you with boredom. How you were almost overwhelmed and buried under mounds of needless paperwork and reports.

But you persevered, you overcame, you conquered the ineptitude and incompetence. You were victorious over the elements, nature, hardships and dangers. You lead yourself when there were no leaders, you climbed out from under the bureaucracy and ineptitude and you stood upon the mountain

of self-esteem, self-worth and a job well done.

Now get back to work :)

Plenty of more opportunities out there to make a living and a life. Just use this as a learning experience and if you go to work for another company that does what SHC does then you know what you are dealing with

Try a different approach to life. My tenure at Sears is just another learning experience. I was lied to as well in that if you go to college and get a degree you will get a good job back in 1992. That's not how it works at all.

No one hires anyone who they think might be smarter than them. Play dumb and get hired. See if you like it. I have a 20 year professional career outside of retail. I also have a wife who is talented and not as experienced as I am and she has an in-road. That is how I ended up at Sears but I have taken great advantage of Eddie in just seven months.

Don't stab yourself in the neck with debt. Always work your a-- off. Be transient. Don't buy a house and make it your albatross. The two worst "investments" you can make in your life are cars and houses. It's bloodbath of expenses.

I have been around the sun a few too many times to be fooled.
