Thread regarding Whole Foods Market Inc. layoffs

Next jobs to go....

I guess cut fruit is next, then some in house produce tms get laid off. The fresh cauliflower is already brown with 4 days shelf life remaining- they only get 5 days to start!

It was kinda gratifying seeing marketing and graphics ppl get let go and rehired in regular tm positions. They were so miserable lol actually having to experience what it's really like. No more smiling faces that's for sure.

Marketing and demo are completely useless. Marketing's sole purpose is to create more work for other depts in order to justify their existence. A f---ing grocery store does not need a full time demo person and marketing person. That's absurd. Now that demo is moving to front end they should make them get carts. Marketing and TMSL should just be eliminated all together. There's no reason to have all the regional positions we have. And I sincerely hope Flash is gone. His idiocy has royally screwed my department. If that's true good riddance.

That florida region DC is a hot mess with their delivery system..and now they want to go to the "truck to floor" inventory, yet the truck doesnt come everyday and the shipping arrival changes daily..a mess..ask the grocery/specialty/produce teams how they like sitting on like 150k worth of product in the warehouse cuz dc dont deliver on certain days..i though we were learning grom walmart logistics, not perverting the logistics??

8fuo - you're still at WFM... don't talk to me about ability to build a resume lol. call backs don't count till you actually land something. i got a great 9-5 office job btw - pays better than when i was an atl. all i was saying was that seeing grocery stores on my resume did not help me get out of retail, my previous experience and qualifications did. two or three jobs and 6 years from now i'll finally have retail and food service off my resume forever. thank god

The Florida DC almost unionized earlier this year. The DC STL got fired and everything went back to normal (in the dumps). Service still s---s and the TMs that I have to speak to are a--holes

Unfortunately this company is ripe for a union! I'm totally against unions and I believe they protect som

eof the worst employees but Whole Foods is doing everything to encourage it. Look what happened to Stop&Shop, they used to be half decent before the employees voted in the union, now they're a dump! Worse chain in the North East!!!!😛

You must s--- at getting together a resume. I'm a TL looking to jump ship because I can't stand the mismanagement. So far I've gotten calls back from a major bank and insurance agency, hotel, and major retailer for mid to high level management positions that pay 45k or more. I never finished college. It's all about how you word things honestly.

i'm sorry but atl and tl are low skill jobs. and yes wfm does overpay them. you're a grocery store department manager - get over it. no other place would pay 50k for what you do...

i was an atl for a year and that counted for jack sh-- on my resume when i was looking for other stuff. it was work i did before wfm that got me the job i have now.

U need to and will get payed what the Industry pace for ur position. Every position, but it's OK. Once we accept what the Industry is willing to pay for our skills, it shouldn't cause us discomfort

Love that people here are b*ing about their TLs and STLs making so much but would be the first to complain about being underpaid. As a TL you have no idea about the sht we go through: sometimes we are your career counselor a, therapists, biggest cheerleaders, only person in the room fighting for you to not get written up over being one minute late because your car broke down. We are the ones being forced to make ridiculous labor standards work, combine teams at the drop of a hat, be on top of your paperwork while rarely working an admin shift in some cases, do damnage control for guests when they demand to speak to a manager, and in general motivate your aes on days when you just don't want to be here, are hungover, or just don't care about your PT job (which is fine but we still have to make you do the minimum). I make 23 an hour as a TL and every cent is damn well deserved. You get paid what you put in. As far as ASTLs and STLs go, some of you are on here complaining that work called you on your day off to ask a question and that somehow makes you entitled to a part of a lawsuit when STLs are being woken up at weird hours of the night when a temp alarm goes off or cooler dies, so they can March their butt to the store and begin pulling product before it gets spoiled. Yeah, there are d--k bosses everywhere. But I laugh at your notion of us being overpaid.

Is it true that ma has 4 coordinators for the cs dpt? I hear one is dedicated to only gift cards? And the rest just let one do all the job. Talking bout saving $$$$$ just cut that position into 2. They barely go to stores if any. Waste of money they say.

Coordinators should be next to go. They are an incredible waste of money and play no real part besides passing along information. No one cares about their opinions when they do their visits. No one knows who they are or care. They are not on the front lines and they don't know what actually happens in stores. Is their role to organize conference calls? Those calls are the biggest waste of time and labor. Everything they do can be accomplished in an email. Cut them and give the TLs and ATLs raises instead of constantly raising the hiring wage so that it is closer to what leadership makes. Giving new TMs .50 cents and a dollar raise for no reason every year and then nothing for those who have been around and worked their way up? Very unfair and as most things, not thought out and surely going to bite us all in the end when the worthwhile leaders take off for more money and more stability at the competitors.

I'll roll the dice on losing one astl per store for stores under 650k, removing the fe atl and the produce atl again by attrition. . Some store are open 7am to 11pm and some 9am to 8pm, I'd think looking at some of those with extended hours might have opportunity to save labor.

I'd go with the asst. Reg. Coor. And the front end supervisors or any supervisors in any dept for that matter, they will just have the tl and atls do all the supervision. I can see one astl per store cut too depending on sales levels

Astl is worthless in most stores. Apologies in advance to any useful Astls, but in most stores I visit they are either absent it wandering around clueless- cut veggies outsourced here too, no longer done in house. Come in with whole foods label, but have 5 day shelf life. Unfortunately they were packed out 3 days prior than hitting shelves by outside vendor in midatlantic, so now an 8 day shelf life. Customers are used to getting really fresh cut veggies bc store give 5 days an packed then right to floor...quality will suffer, already seeing it, so now what sets wf apart????? Cut fruit definitely next, this company is making all the wrong decisions in the spirit of cutting costs....quality is suffering, innovation is absent, they can't compete on price. Scare my times for whole foods market, need a buyout or this company won't be around in 5 years. Best part about a buyout is all upper management and ac positions will be first to go, redundant.
