RIFs and furloughs are the new normal at Honeywell. This isn't a hump theyre getting over, it's the new way HON is doing "business". Until there are no more US based employees, there will be benefit reductions, rule changes, pension eliminations, etc all intended to help drive attrition. The furloughs and RIFs are also to help lower headcount and increase bonuses for senior leadershite types (mostly cote).

In short, basically everyone will be eliminated as HON is getting out of the aerospace business. No more R&O, no more parts, no more US based tech support.

Even if all those RIF'd are volunteers, that is still a RIF. I would think there would be many more people volunteering than they would need. Anyone close to their retirement age should consider it. Some have posted, and I know of people who were turned down, not only this time but for the previous 3 RIFs. So looks like no shortage of volunteers. Honeywell must consider the statistics as well as the expense of each RIF - minimize the expense and still be legally ok.

i heard that they have enough volunteers and thus the RIF might not be as big. We will know soon.

Proof if such news? HArd yo believe if they've already accepted vol. but maybe that was enough and no further RIF is needed. That would be a nice gift

What do you guys mean there is "no RIF"? There were clearly some people accepted for it, so I don't think they can just cancel it for them?

If MM said no RIF then enough people have quit and he made his target numbers. Just wait for the new targets. Merry Christmas indeed!

I did a 20 yr stretch @ Funnywell. Left almost 10 yrs ago at a manager level. Fell out of favor because I wouldn't screw my team. The future there seemed obvious to me. Train folks from India, work a lot of extra time w/o pay, asked to lay off good people, provide what we had to customers, not what they wanted or asked for.

Went to another local big company for a bonus and 15% raise. After 4 yrs was making 50% more than when I left Funnywell.

Everyone should just walk out. Let em get India, mexico, or the Czech republic to cover for you. So, how do you feel about flying on a plane with major parts built who knows where by folks who live in grass huts? Thought so.

NO

The same reason they will not accept all volunteers for the RIF, they will not take a hit where it is a valuable headcount are.

Let's say your coworker with kids to feed is RIFed. Can you asked to be RIFed so that said coworker with kids to feed can keep his job? (Give up your job to save his.)

Many people were very happy today hearing that they were accepted for VRIF. Some people are leaving in Jan. 2017 regardless. Company can't accept everyone because of demographics and you can't ask for replacements for a RIF'd headcount. It gives me hope when I see people retire and not get carried out feet first. I still have 4-5 years left, but can go anytime before that. ALT has just taken the life out of this place!!!! Still doing my job, but not one minute extra. They asked a person that was turned down for VRIF to stay until April 2017 with no incentive. LMAO.......LoL.....

If they were smart they would just let everyone go that wants to leave and rehire the 3rd party replacements and underpaid fresh outs with no benefits to be done with it. We all know it's coming and want to move on with our lives.
