Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

Anyone still paying into HPAC?

I have just withdrawn my HPAC contribution after again being asked to give more. Instead i will give the $ directly to the charity of my choice

I don't see the point of having the employees foot the bill for HPAC as I already gave "at the office" via endless OT, decrease in benefits and just overall mgmt don't-care

Hoyer's folks spoke to Honeywell and they want to come to convention but only have $60k budgeted but definitely want a hotel room. This is $60k we definitely wouldn't get otherwise and Honeywell is the biggest PAC contributor in the country. Julie mentioned that from the conversation, they're definitely a bit pissy about our PAC policy flip flop and that offering this gesture would definitely help our relationships with them for later in the election cycle and for years to come.

Just wanted to state the case. Let me know if you think it's feasible or not.

Lobbying expenses haven't been tax deductible for several years and contributions to political campaigns have never been. Hence PACs including HIPAC. Money goes to political campaign contributions, and not anonymously, and to lobbyists, all ostensibly to support more work for Honeywell. For example, lobbying in support of F-35. Unfortunately, that money can go for things that you may not like, such as supporting a carbon tax in my case. FYI - being pressured to contribute is illegal so save any evidence of that.

Remember once early in D.C.'s tenure when he was pumping HPAC? He kept talking about a "grass roots campaign". By it's very name, things that are grass roots start organically, from the bottom, certainly not from the head stooge applying pressure downhill. I knew even then we were in trouble with this clown. Never gave a penny, despite being pressured often; a company of this size and stature should be able to hire a few lobbyists.

Not all directors give and that hasn't stopped promotions. You are only as intimidated as you allow yourself to be.

No more. Stopped contributing with the last furlough and MIP cut. They should understand about cost cutting and budget management.

There was a minimum contribution for band 4 and above. You can elect not to contribute, but they put the fear in you if you dont.

There are no directors or VPs that don't give, it is mandated to get promoted. You are blackballed in the MRR process if you do not donate. Funny how promotions and HIPAC are tied together, there is one brown nose Toby Price who s---ed up so much and volunteered to do HIPAC recruiting so he could get an iPAD and a promotion. Well he did not get the iPAD, but by the worn knees on his pants and his newly created job, he got something.

Watch out for those doing the HIPAC recruiting, they are ruthless and will say anything to get your money, even two dollars

Guess what, we have never won anything new because of HIPAC or the Government Relaions people we hire. Their track records of being correct is almost zero.

I would challenge anyone to do metrics on the HIPAC results and how often GR is right year over year, month over month

You could hear the guy that was in charge of HPAC, at a certain site, talking about "resources" during his web meetings (it seemed that all he was doing was meetings); these "resources" happened to be all from Czech, India, and so on and on.....

I refuse to give to a political organization that I have no say in what they support. If I have a political organization which I choose to support, I will do that independently.

A company should not force their political agenda on their employees.

You can say no. I know a higher level manager who has been asked for years by both Tier 1 and Tier 2 leaders and always said no. That person encouraged me to stop giving.

My ex-manager at HON told me one time managers, even the lowest level MUST donate to HPAC, whether they like it or not. Just another reason to NOT be a manager role at HON. Well other than being lied to and being the pass-down liars (I'm trying to be sympathetic!).

HPAC is Honeywell Political action committee...HPAC. They are a lobby group that is supposed to lobby for HON interests in DC. you can volunteer to donate to the pac, non-tax deductible, and then HON will match your HPAC donation to a charity in your name. So, you loose the tax deduction. There isn't supposed to be any pressure to donate, but at manager and director level, it's heavily implied that you need to participate.

Please explain HPAC to the rest of us that haven't heard of it. It sounds like you guys are forced to donate money? ?

I was probably one of the last holdouts in Torrance for this HPAC. Extreme high pressure solicitations utilized, but I never gave in. I gave them my middle finger instead. Now a happy VRIFter.... , dont have to put up with lots of b.s. metrics, HOS and goals!

I give enough to cover the value of the holiday gift card. Hence I win, they lose. I get why they do what they do, but when they support legislators who are anti what's important to me, I draw the line.

F NO! I don't know how I was so stupid and let them bamboozle me in the past (must have been Harriet's sweet talk), but I have since wised up a couple years ago and will never give another cent.
