Thread regarding Sears layoffs

What's really going on at the Corporate Headquarters?

I would like to hear from someone on the corporate level. Is the company in a panic mode? Will Sears declare BK in the near future? Will there be store closures coming up in 2017. Does Mr Lampert care about the employees? I work in the stores, and we see that it is bad. Sales down, store hours cut back. People are asking us all the time is the store closing. I would like to hear from someone from corporate. Thank You,

Here at corporate, they took all the Christmas decorations down in the atrium, I think it was this past Monday, 12/ 19. I don't recall that happening so early in the past. They used to leave them up until after Christmas. As many others said previously, the signs are all around us that the end is near. We are still working on projects to be implemented in Jan and Feb but that's because associates are just doing their jobs until someone says stop. My manager has been with Sears for 27 years and even he says he cannot believe some of the silly decisions being made... we have a former Amazon exec calling the shots now and he's still pushing changes and I personally have to work over the holidays to get things done... for what I ask...?

Lamenting about the demise is a waste of time - Its over - looking for and obtaining a new job should be priority number one

Ditto to everything said here. It is going to end. When? Who knows, could be tomorrow, could be next year. Everyone is just trying to hold on until they can find another job, retire, or ride this sinking ship to the end. Just do your job, collect a pay check and plan for the future without Sears/Kmart.

I see this question asked a lot. I can't say much obviously and I can't be specific but I will tell you that the feelings at the store level is basically what's going on in the vast majority of sear as a whole, which includes corporate. At the higher levels it seems like the problems are more out in the open.

If you're asking this question for reassurance that the company will somehow recover then I can assure you that it won't. If you decide to stay and go down with the ship then that's your own choice. If you feel like that's you're only option then so be it. I wish you the best of luck. However, people need to stop pretending like they're being blindsided. You aren't. The media is telling you everything you need to know to make decisions for yourselves. This board is telling you all the information you need to make an informed decision. Your managers, district manager, and all the other employees who make direct contact with you are simply doing their jobs, just like you. They have families to support just like you. And if they say things that aren't in full support of the company they would just be shooting themselves in the foot, especially if they cause unrest in the group of employees they manage.

You aren't going to get any definitive warnings (other than what is already obvious in the financial reports)It will be "business as usual" for most of the employees right up until the end, and that includes the headquarters staff. If management were to admit the coming bankruptcy, supplies would instantly be cut off, employees would freak out, stock prices would plunge, customers would disappear. So management will continue to play the "transformation" fantasy to the bitter end.

Spouse works at corporate. The lower and mid-level people there, at least, are continuing on, business as usual. Working on long-term projects, etc. Don't know what is in the minds of the upper echelon, but the regular folks at corporate don't know any more than the store people.

Corporate is packing up and leaving for greener pastures. It is pretty obvious that the end is near. Stores will be closing in 2017 en masse. That is Eddies' only option at this point if he want's to protect Seritage. I don't think Eddie wants to be declare BK because doing so would open him up to the PBGC liabilities. It is hard to say though because Eddie is a smooth cat and no he doesn't care about you.

Corp doesn't know the answers to what you are asking specifically. This is kept in a very tight circle that would not benefit from releasing that information... however if you have to ask the question then you already know the answer. It's not even bad anymore, it's done, it's simply a matter of time and not much. I know it's not what you were looking for but you don't have to ask for reassurance YES it's over
