Why should I innovate? That takes too much time and effort. Instead, I can sit on my fat a-- all day long and rest and vest while watching you tube videos. Woohoo for WT!! My. health is suffering not due to stress but due to immobility. But i still have a couple thousand shares that need vesting.

,...you can always avoid "cut and paste job"...and try to do something more than needed..... it will require more effort..but the problem is that if you do something good everyone would want to take credit for it and if it fails try to finger point...... forget about the situation when you have to work with other teams ....every director/manager will see if it helps him in his prospect... due to large number of managers and competing interests it is a highly demotivating work environment... ... it is highly politically charged atmosphere.... the emphasis is not on creativity but on credit/promotion/bonus etc.... this is the key problem ..... if is vicious circle...good people leave due to politics...bad people who survive on politics create more political charged environment......

If you are really motivated no one will stop doing other than copy paste..., You want to keep your a-- on rest and thing think things should be done different.., start moving the ass

If your job can be done by a monkey - one day, it will be.

That's how it is in telecom. I've found that unless you're working on the drivers or close to HW, you're copying and pasting. Even the drivers can be simplistic. Maybe the protocol stack is better.
