Think about this for a min, salary is based on a 50 work week. So they will dived it out so that your hourly rate come matches 40 hour work week less 10 hours of time and half. Instead of $47500 coming out to $22.83 an hour, you actually get about $16.5 an hour and when they allow OT you then get it. So now you are making $34,320 a year if you don't make any OT. Where are the cry babies that were whining about having to work over 40 when they were salaried!

salary of $47,500 for an employee to be considered exempt? Is that a joke? How can you have the same minimum for the entire country? What about the difference in cost of living? $47,500 is pretty good if you live in Texas but pretty much nothing if you are from NY or SF.

Here in Canada there is labour laws that even protect salaried workers; just because you are salaried doesn't mean you are exempted from overtime pay. Check your state's employment laws.

And just because you are salary doesnt mean you get a bonus. You also have to be at a certain level to qualify. Usually its managers and higher.

Hold your breath on that BONUS check. They still owe me $5000. I'll never see it.. BASTARDS!

So what does this mean? If you are hourly and u make more in Ot, they will switch you to salary? And I heard if you are salary you are on the bonus plan. So I will get a bonus check too?

Thank you vik. I suspect other companies are going to follow suit and in saying that I am in no way giving Weatherford some slack. I am a job hunting son of a gun.

It's simple, the fed now requires a salary of $47,500 for an employee to be considered exempt. Rather than pay you that, they will demote you. Obama mandated that you should be paid more and Weatherford will skirt the rules to make sure you don't see that money.

Someone please explain this. What is overtime conversion and does this have to do with Obama's cr@p new law? Does this affect hourlies? And to the pig that keeps posting nasty, non-helpful comments, screw you. I'm not interested in your opinion. There are still enough decent people on this board that can maybe clarify. Thanks.

Keep telling yourself that, but it doesn't change the fact that Weatherford is demoting you to avoid paying the salary that the fed requires.

You must be one of the sh--ty employees that come in late and leave early. I'll be coming out ahead.

Come in early and work slightly slower.
