I've heard from several former Sun Microsystems employees who got hit - some of them had 10-20 or more years of service under their belts. No official announcement that I can find. Seems to be simple cost cutting - I'm guessing quarterly earnings are below target and someone might miss their bonus.

If there is any RIF, ex Sun Micro employees will be the one get hit first because their salary is higher than Oracle employees and it been losing money every quarter from their hardware/ software.
