Now what are the folks for Intel in Boston, New Mexico, Hillsboro, Folsom, Ireland, Israel going to do if intel only needs one Fab for x86 and sever as volumes continue to plummet and scaling means smaller die. Two plus two means one fab🤔

How many design teams you need if IoT and all the other money losing programs get cut, alll the support teams living off the hog will be cut in a split of design and manufacturing? Who would buy TMG with its broken a den uncompetitive cost structure? TSMC or Samsu my might get interested for cents on the dollar and do wholesale cuts. Intel process folks would be in for a huge shock for the ones that don't get fired or cut.

What happens if no miracle happens on 10nm. Do you know if they just match 14nm learning rate what the implications are 😳😱

While ACT was a good indicator of the direction of the company, the fact that they want to get rid of the older and more expensive people who know what they're doing, and replace them with young "diverse" people, speaks much louder.

At some point, I fully expect class action suits to begin over things like this. Intel and many other companies have liability coming out their ears.

Intel PR has generated a lot of positive business press reports today about its photonics research as a way to make a quantum leap in data center performance. Buried in there are a few statements that yields are low and productization is 3-5 years away. I knew people who were working on this at Intel 10 years ago, so I wonder if it's finally more than a research project?

However it turns out, this is over the horizon and there are lot of deep valleys and pain between now and then.

And all the insider trading indicates that the board members have beaten everyone else to the lifeboats.

There are still employees that think Intel will magically turnaround. These people are so disconnected with reality. Intel has already been run off the track and is attempting to reinvent itself but is far behind its competitors. These employees had better get moving on their exits plans or will face the same terrible job market that many of us are now experiencing.

ACT actually reconfirms that the iceberg has been hit. Captain and officers are in futility trying to buy time and give perception of a recovery action but the inevitable is already in process! To think ACT and the initiatives will change the course is a joke. Those in the know know the real situation but keep hoping for miracles. In the world of business and engineering they follow the laws of physics and economics and the tipping and inflection point has indeed been reached /past.

A more intelligent, visionary and intelligent CEO might have charted a more extreme new direction, but ACT confirms the totally lack of any vision, intelligence and boldness in current CEO or any such demands from the BOD.

The ship is going down and more ACTs are a gurantee in the future. Pity for my coworkers without an exit strategy.

Writing was on the wall even before ACT, ACT confirmed it and made the trajectory irreversible. But it is until now that most of the employees are finally off the Kool-Aid and facing reality. Same can be said for the investors and analysts at Wall Street. ACT2 will happen Q1-Q2 next year, there is no question about it.

It's going down. I know quite a few current employees who are finally busy looking for new work outside of Intel. They know the writing is on the wall.
