F42 was PSO wet dream the x86 would win the tablet and cellphones. Sadly ARMy has won and they have the virtuous cycle and now Samsung and TSMC have R&D and factories that dwarf intel.
The virtuous cycle intel liked to talk about is just a whirlpool s---ing them down the drain to irrevlance. It is hard for the BoD or any executive to comprehend or react as they are so out of their element and that is why the response has been so. The volumes of x86 are so low fab42 will be empty forever
There is no plan to ever populate F42 with capital equipment or production line. Now how come execs have not lost their jobs for this $3B disaster, resorting instead to laying off dedicated people. Decisions like this epitomize the leadership in Intel. They should be completely disrespected by their industry peers.

Once again Intel will make the decision to layoff the experienced, valuable employees and retain stupid managers. Why are managers retained? Because they all play in the same sandbox. How many times have I observed SLM and FLMs colluding with each other at watering holes outside of work, cutting their deals over a whiskey or two. That's where the actual "decisions" are made. It's an "Us against Them" attitude and has always been.
