Per "The Street" today -- Is Apple (AAPL) tooling up to create custom chips for its next generation of MacBooks?
Analysts at Exane BNP Paribas think it might be, after they noticed a surge in Apple job advertisements for the sort of people needed to create an in-house central processing unit, or CPU, or a graphics processing unit, or GPU.
That would be bad news for Intel but on the plus side maybe some of the qualified-but-unfairly-released ISPers can land something there.
CPU is already designed and decision is Tim's.
Any additional slip in 10nm and it is bye bye x86

They have a terrible "winner takes all" culture. The best people in the teams get huge bonusses. It's like Intel's meritocracy, just taken to the extreme. So teams don't work with each other and team members don't work with each other. No support from anyone, no cooperation, no knowledge sharing.
If your friend is young, having worked for Apple for a couple of years might be a good thing to put on his CV. But it's not a company for sticking around long-term or even until retirement.
Why is Apple sh--ty to work for?

I would not be surprised if Apple were designing their own CPUs for the Mac. But ISPs going to Apple? Really, Apple is a pretty sh--ty company to work for.
