Most are based in U.K. Marketing who turn up to office once a week as sort of a royal ceremony. Blah.

Any new news on more LRs for marketing?

@ilfl: they can't stop the techno babble jargon because the marketing team doesn't understand anything about the products and services beyond some vague statement created by senior management about what it does.

@idnh: what are you talking about? Unless the post you're referring to has already been removed.

Let's get this sh-- sorted for once and for all. Can the left arm talk to the right arm and stop producing sh-- solo materials that no one reads. Put it into something that makes sense to clients not tech heads who built it.

@wre, I moved to product management and business development, so I'm still leveraging my marketing experience but more on the business and technical side.

@-tva I'm -wre. What industry are you in now? I had veruouy seriously thought of going into another industry but I do t know how to do anything else. At one point I was seriously thinking of getting my spin certification to teach spin classes all week.

And your response was spot on. I have seen so many marketers who can't even put a sentence together.

I think the love affair with "digital" happens because the people hiring the magical millenials are old farts like us but who are in high places.

@wre: Thank you! Same marketing principles. Just a new medium/channel. So tired of dealing with "marketers" who were hired because they know how to use FB and AdWords but who can't identify a market, craft an effective message, develop a media strategy or build a brand. I got out of marketing a long time ago. I'd love to go back but don't think I could deal with the social/digital idiocy.

I do not understand this love affair with "digital marketing." If you have a website, you're doing "digital" marketing. Social media? Same. Lead and demand gen via content availability? Yup. This is t new stuff, yet the term "digital" really buffs a shine on.

Just like my "digital" clock that I got in the 70's.

Marketing was and still is way too bloated. One job split amongst 10 people with regional redundancy. VPs are playing Hunger Games as the CMO continues to cut as per Chuckie. But yes, they really are "digital marketing" - nonstop posting of the IoT markitecture garbage on FB while logged on to LinkedIn looking for their next job.
