Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

A brave new world of Oracle layoffs

I am gonna rant here, hear me out if you'd like. I am left leaning and have been all my life. But look at what's happening at Oracle employees over last three years - all of that made me not vote for the left including HRC. Anyhow, we are in a rigged game where a few executives get all benefits of our work and we get only small pieces while they keep pretty much all. Then, the rest is given to the lobbyists and lawyers and politicians, and the worker gets a layoff.

Look at Oracle today, it's still greatly profitable but they chose to cut even more people, increase executive bonuses and payouts and even more will be channeled to Washington to lobby for more h1b visas, lax oversight, etc.

That's what making me really angry about all of this - I do get that companies have to layoff people, even sometimes they have to cut pay, but a stress event would have to be required for this, not just a plain need to bump up executive bonuses.

That's all I had to say. Good luck to all of us.

Take your rolodex and go work for a startup. Oracle's customers are begging for alternatives. They are sick of paying too much for crappy software and support. They are sick of being audited so some rep can make his or her number. There are tons of options out there. Just go out there and get one of those much better jobs.

@wpp - my thoughts exactly, get some courage and take care of the long term goals for the company - living and dying based on quarterly results in unhealthy

Lots of very experienced and skilled employees have been layed off, in EMEA and Australia. They have been replaced by cheap juniors from romania and india. they don't even bother logging to gcca (the tool used for communicating with csts) and take calls from csts. They just take the oracle trainings and add them to their cvs.

ellison, catz and hurd don't care about oracle employees. It's all about their bonuses.

Also cst means not the same for them and you.

For them cst means someone who pays a lot of money.

In addition, several countries experience problems with payroll, which is located in romania. more than 10 romanians from payroll left the company. The new hired people don't just get the process properly. Now The payslips are wrong every month and the corrections of the payslip are even wronger.

Oracle employees need to contact their country fiscal administration in order to make it stop.

I understand - but how much is driven by analysts and the stock market? Sure you made $10B this quarter, but maybe the guys on wall street (aka shareholders) expected 10.5B.... to make that up you can pump revenues or cut costs.

It's time for CEOs to stop pandering to wall street folks. Costco (not a tech company) does this. Their stock is decent but not a high flyer. Time to take wall street out of the equation - then instead of pandering to newly minted MBA graduates, they can take care of the company.

My 2cents - probably worth 1 cent.
