Today I overheard a woman say "They can't lay me off because I am a woman and there is not enough women in tech." As woman I must apologize for these feebleminded hypocrites who demand equality but quickly use their gender as a shield of protection. If you have to make a decision don't make your decision based on gender it makes women like me who have work my tail off to get where I am at weak.

Simply put I am yet too come across a credible reliable transparent women leader in this company. If u want backstabbing silo creating arrogant ones we have plenty at every management level..
To the person who posted about the woman who always shared her personal issues: I had one of those. It really interfered with getting things done 1) because she was always dealing with some family/partner/friend drama and 2) you never could tell if now "is a good time. "
Oh by the way, someone mentioned that an exec said there are too many white middle aged men here. Cisco and I suspect a ton of other companies also need to beef up their LGBT diversity stats too. I have nothing whatsoever against people who are g-- (I have very good friends who are g--), but heaven forbid they do something about the cronyism, favoritism, s-xism and harassment in that group.
First time reader I am no longer at Ciscno and yes women do help themselves get to the top from their knees... it's not cheating if it happened in a different country, oh I really hope you read this ms cheat-a-lot.
--> Maybe this has to do with Cisco's culture and its emphasis on advancing shameless, selfish and heartless self-promoters - male or female.
This is one of the reasons I left. Another was that somewhere along the way, Cisco turned into a company that couldn't execute. Gee, maybe there's a connection there.
People who show off what they have as adults 9 times out of 10 had f uped upbringing and have to brag to compensate for the past. Stay away from these types they are train wrecks and have serious daddy issues.
It's not just SJ. We have several of these in U.K. Sales reporting to CEO or just beneath as leaders. Can simply do no wrong, but have the biggest mouths on the plant when it comes to opinions on everything.
We have a woman manager in our group who always talks about her personal life and never provides any usefull information just talks about what is going on in her life I don't know why she is still working here. As a woman she makes me look bad. At least the men who are managers in our group are professional. I am so tired of her show and tell moments. Yes she's in sales if she is reading this.
...heard a Cisco Senior VP say "there are too many white middle aged men in this room", which is illegal in the UK, but he was American so would not know.
I'm pretty sure that's illegal in the US too. We do have age and race discrimination laws. The problem is that if you're middle aged and white, you have a bigger target on your back to make room for more of the other diversity groups to balance out the company statistics. And apparently being a disabled veteran doesn't offset being a white male over 50.
The truth hurts. There are power have hungry women who will backstab and back chat and still not get laid off due to the hidden quota's. "leaders" who just laid off hundreds have now been promoted would you believe in Emear. Yes female.
There is some truth to this. I have seen a woman manager rated more highly because "we have to keep our diversity statistics up". I also heard a Cisco Senior VP say "there are too many white middle aged men in this room", which is illegal in the UK, but he was American so would not know.
Gloss =gloms
My experience with Cisco is that there are some great women there, but there are also pockets of mean girls cliques. Once one of those groups gloss onto you, they can make your life miserable.
OP I understand you I also worked hard to get to where I am at today. A women who uses her gender as protection should be the first to walk the plank. First they yell girl power then they cry because I'm a female. I don't respect women like that but I do respect women who stick to thei guns we need more female leaders who stick to their beliefs.
Not just women honey many more also impacted.
Such naivety is quite amusing. I know many women that have been impacted in Cisco lay-offs.
In U.K. Sales they are untouchable and rule the roost in the leadership ranks. People are simply afraid as they know they can't do anything to them or about them.
The trick to surviving as a woman or a minority (or both) is to contact HR and threaten a lawsuit. I've seen leaders get promoted to VP that way.
I don't think the vast system cares enough if you're a woman or not. You're just a badge number on a rolling 12 month contract. If they can lay off pregnant women but let all the unwanted directors go in to early retirement (and keep their stock) then no 'regular' employee (middle management and below) is safe.
In UK , it makes no difference, Cisco has even laid off pregnant women.
Yes, A few women in our office abusing of being women but they deliver bad job quality!! I would fire them immediately if I have the power to. Some other women doing great job..
Oh, yes they can. I was a disabled Veteran over 50 and I got laid off.
I've heard some people are taking Cisco to court for discrimination. I've also heard from one person, who like me was over 50, that they talked with an attorney who said the package was pretty good and to take it rather than try to fight it. If they lost, most of the package would have been eaten up by the legal fees.
Women get layed off too. And sometimes the good ole boy system saves the guys. It works both ways though sadly.
Yes, I am a woman and do deal with women who abuse being a woman to their advantage they feel untouchable.
I'm a woman and constantly talk with other women who say the same I just smile to their ignorance.
I am a woman and got layed off in Aug .
