@Ks0ptC8-1nmo. Oregonian has been spot-on about Intel layoffs since last July's first round, through ACT, and now this one. It was better when Rogoway had an HR mole, of course. Still, this news about the wearables cuts is hardly anything Rogoway pulled out of his ar$e--it is all over the external press. Would be interested to see how the Circuit marketing slaves are having to spin this internally.
Half the stuff the Oregonian says is made up. Mike Rogoway is one of the jerks that works for them.

IoT a bazillion devices all connected and in everything. Thus small, cheap, need sensors, radio, non volatile memory, low power. 🤔 More competitive than cell phones processors and modems and sell for less than 5 bucks, yup intel will be successful there !

Hi I am working in Ntg Group santa Clara. These are fake news. We are enjoying great perks as usual compared to other groups in intel.being software engineer I was told if anything happens then they will move us to iot group. Honestly its fun to be in ntg. No pressure and no products. Only great perks and good pay.no complaints. Work life balance is great .having Europe trips every month on company expense.what else u want?

Rogoway lost his best source, The Mole, when he/she was ISP'd back in May. Now he just writes about the posts on other tech sites, usually a few days after the fact.
This is what you get when you have management level 20+yr Intel stalwarts leading a team of diversity NCGs for your products.
Intel's core competence was it's silicon technology and manufacturing where it held a insurmountable lead fed by the wealth of the x86 monopoly. Of course the monopoly in x86 helped a bit and all the all stars focused on it. But a monopoly tends to make you fat, lazy and uninventivr and after AMD bungled things the past 8 years have seen a rapid drop in innovation of any kind.
Sadly the arrogance of TMG cast aside anything but lip service to leveraging that huge leadership in silicon and offered none of the same leadership in SoC, low power or analog. There were many inititiatives all that failed because of the arrogance and singular focus on x86 silicon technology.
All the design teams that did anything but x86 were second and third class. Why would any star work in anything but x86. You can see it everywhere, your career was dead if you didn't work on x86. Thus, bad design from third class talent combined with bad silicon and you know the story in cell phones and tablets. Even the modem effort was external design and with external silicon tells you how bad the internal teams and silicon is!
Now that x86 is failing and volumes plummenting you find the head of TMG BK failing as CEO as he is TMG can't think out of the x86 box and the rest of senior management is mostly the same. Like having a traditional set of army commanders try into fight a insurgent terrorist operation, it fails and fails spectacularly even with far superior money and resources. It fails always !
While intel silicon and design can / could do was logic for x86. It takes two to three generations about 6 years to develop and learn how to do real SOC,modems and low power. Intel just started but Samsung and TSMC have been riding the ARMy and are now caught up on logic and way ahead for SOC and analog. Virtuous cycle has been pissed away and lost for good.
By the time intel builds the expertise they will be a generation or two behind in process and this time x86 can't fund it. Truely SOL and huge mistakes and arrogance and incompetence from the senior management.
So the CEO chases FPGA, memory, modems, AI, VR, drones, wearables and remember charging bowls? Fads and hot trends of the day. All will fail as the talent inside isn't working on it or if they move the talent they have no experience in the area. If they buy the talent they force upon it the heavy handed clueless and arrogant intel x86 management.
All this combined with uncompetitive silicon is FAILURE after FAILURE. You know it but management has no choice but pretend all is good it is their job to try and fail.
Sadly intel is like the TItanic and the tipping point has been reached. I pray for the souls deep in the bowls of TMG and design who have no clue and when the ship slips under are truely SOL.
COPY and SHARE this to them poor souls so they can secure a life vest or boat and save themselves as the company is sinking and more ACTs are to come as I noted the tipping point has been passed!
