Quality does not matter much if the alternative is free - none would have ever used Skype or IP phones. And the value-add of TP is just not there for most customers. Why look at a talking head instead of making just a phone call?

You must definitely be a minion, probably one with the IQ of a brick. I do have an iPhone and guess what it costs cheaper than a Telepresence device and does all that I need.
What sh--. Free better alternatives. Talking sh-- you muppet. May cost but you can't fault quality. See iPhone fool.
Telepresence is dead. It's expensive as all hell. NO ONE will buy Telepresence for thousands of dollars when you have FREE, better alternatives.
It sounds crazy, but Cisco Telepresence should be aggressively sold in the Porn Industry. Cisco will post record profits thereafter.
Viable service model.
That Forbes article posted is interesting in that it confirms a few of things I've experienced in the past:
If your revenues are based on hardware and volumes of service (i.e. X amount of money per minute) then you are commoditizing yourself and have limited shelf life.
If you are hardware-driven, you better have bullet proof hardware, because its expensive to sell, implement and use.
You need to come up with a bible service model that's based on client relationship management. That means relationship marketing, upsell and services that add value to client experience.
These huge companies are
So siloed that they can't make an end to end client solution or experience work. There's no strategy.
A biased article that is over 4 yrs old is a good read? Get real.
Both Cisco & Polycom are in trouble. Very good article to read.
