Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Employee Layoffs After Being Acquired

Hello All - I work for a small company that was acquired a while ago. Nobody got laid off as a result of acquisition, but I wanted to see if other people had similar experience. What I heard through the grapevine is that Oracle typically waits a bit before they start cutting as they do not want people to leave.

Please chime in if you have a similar experience with your company being acquired and any layoffs that might have followed.

Thank you!

Layoffs are not based on your manager at all - they take management out of that decision to try and avoid lawsuits after layoffs. Doing it this way the terminated employee can't say "my manager was out to get me."

When NA SCs took the hit in june 2016 it had nothing to do with how well your manager ranked you. Middle management is a terrible position at oracle with no power.

For sure the execs are out for themselves. People have no idea what's coming.

"Layoffs are based on your manager. If you have a good relationship and do a decent job, you will be safe Use Oracle as a tool to further your career if you still young, if you are old and a few years from retirement, just do what Oracle wants...metrics, metrics, metrics and you'll be alright."

You are joking, right ?

Last week a CSM colleague was layed off in EMEA. HRs informed him he had to leave. He called his manager, and his manager was not aware about what what happening.

Also I had several colleagues having a rate of 5 during their performance appraisal.

They were layed off and replaced by junior romanian employees.

So replace "a good relationship and do a decent job" by "if you are working in a cheap country".

Seriously, where are you coming from ?

Oracle management (le, sc, mh) don't care about talented employees, it is all about money and cheap employees.

"That's not true. You'd not get an offer if you weren't joining."

haha ...

you are an HR employee, right ?

I surveyed my past collegues in OCS - PM, Senior system analysts , developers - if your on an L1 making 40000 they will keep you on ... anybody making 75k plus is automatically put on a "make believe" plan so they can funnel you out the door to partner organizations - the Goverment needs to stop this by ensuring corporations cannot move temporary employees into country - Oracle just send an endless stream of L1s to their hotels in bay area cycling them in and out every 12 weeks

Hi!

they wait an then they mess it up big time. Kicking ppl left and right until nothing works.

Mi**os is typical example, they even had to hire back ppl.

All the great talented ppl at S*n left shortly after the acquisition - moved to Joyent and other startups.

Depending on what you do, expect to be layed off.

Good luck!
