Redundancies, RIFs, Layoffs, Job Cuts, Surplus, there is a ton of names for pink slips but do you really think that we'll be affected here in Hoffman Estates.

Just a heads up from someone who knows... They are coming for you... HE buyers, copywriters, designers, Assistant whatevers, ASM's, DM's , AP, LP, APP, MCC, or any other corporate or store level employee who works full time and some part time. Reductions will come in hours, benefits, and job security. No more "Yes, men and women". Your job is looking to become eliminated. Wait until next week.

OP was written in Nov or Dec 2016. If there was a question then, there is no question now in Mar 2017.

Haven't people there already been let go recently?

Yes, the "Yes men" and "Yes Women", along with those who have unsuccessfully attempted to be neither, will certainly receive an inglorious email or similar notice of lay-off. Actually, a "job title elimination" notice best describes it all.

Sears has been sending their lackeys to Stores for the past several months, announcing the "out the door" and immediate termination for many skilled and educated managers, especially Loss Prevention and Asset and Profit Protection Managers (APM) or Store Leads.

Incredibly, some of the Sears lackeys are caught off guard when announcing job-title eliminations to Store employees. It is the Store employee who already knows "they" (the Hoffman lackeys) are coming. It's no secret, although the Hoffman Estates lackeys pretend it is.

The best thing now for the Hoffman Estates lackeys would be to return to their former positions -- Massage therapists, Kennel groomers, used-car Salesmen, etc. Or, just wait around to the very last minute and steal as much as possible from Sears -- since they (Sears) could care less about that topic, too !

Hoffman estates cuts are next. Too many people with redundant or non-essential jobs. Just think if the company can do without whatever you do and still loose money. You have your answer. Sorry but Hoffman is like the federal government. Too many departments doing the same thing or doing nothing to make a difference to the bottom line.

Yes, you will be affected. The more store that are closed the less need for the number of employees at Hoffman. Staffing numbers at Hoffman were based on number of employees needed per number of stores.

If God parted the eastern sky and said Sears will not close, Sears would still close!

Unless you sell Kmart/Sears real estate or work for the liquidation company they use, you will likely lose your job next year if you work for Sears Holdings.
