Nope. It had no bad words that I remember. No personal names either. Just that people in merchandising and other areas are being called back and the vendor rooms are booked out all day Friday. I think there were other items too.

Do you mean this thread: "4/28 Home Office Vendor Rooms" https://www.thelayoff.com/t/MTVyL3u or @MTVyL3u ?

Haven't seen the post, by my $0.02 is that it contained names or personal insults/derogatory language. That's not allowed here, check their rules in the footer.

I too saw the post that said people were being called back in the office this week and vendor rooms booked for Friday. Why did this site remove the post. Sounds like WMT wants to keep this publicity quiet. Everyone keep posting updates.

The GSS in Costa Rica was supposed to be handling GSS work for Walmart's Central America business and for some reason some of Mexico's. The associates I worked with were Walmart associates. I was laid off last year so this could have changed. There is also a GSS center in Charlotte.

My understanding is that if jobs are replaced after layoffs they usually go to recent college grads or India (both are cheaper than long term or the more experienced )

You might be surprised at how many people that are laid off that are age 40 and up. Then again, maybe that isn't shocking

Would love to get more details on GSS jobs. It's Sunday night - when did the layoff started? Any other departments impacted?

I am truly sorry to hear about your layoff at GSS. May I ask how many associates were affected (approx.) ? Also, were these jobs automated, outsourced to GSS in Costa Rica, etc? (I ask this, because right before I left, WM was building up their GSS presence in Costa Rica, with the goal of "leveraging" its talent-AKA: outsourcing.)

Great response, Lou C. Fer! And I think your strategy is sound. I'm not overly religous, but I truly believe that every person (and every company) reaps what they sow. And it would appear, based on sales, that WM's day of judgement has come. I just heard that Roz Brewer is "retiring" from Sam's. However, it doesn't take a brain surgeon to figure out why she is leaving, or how she got that job in the first place. Stay in there, my friend, and all other friends, "left behind."

Layoffs have already started. Invoicing Dept, Bank Recon, Cash and Banking. All GSS jobs. I was told I'd have a job. Liars!!

There is an ugly truth about Walmart The American worker needs to come to terms with. It is that those in leadership positions have made it a part of the business model to perpetuate the lie that Americans are not as smart, as innovative, as desirable as foreign H1-B visa holders and others,

Therefore long term American employees need to be pushed out the door unceremoniously and as rapidly as as possible.

Yet instead of providing clean and friendly stores to American consumers, they figure you will remain loyal,- nevermind the insulting disrespect they show. They want to clutter your lives with stuff you do not need, and short change on things , like food , you do need.

Their motto should be "Keep America Lame"

WAlmart does not believe in giving a fair deal to the American shopper and American worker.

It is a foreign enterprise

@Angel of Mercy - Would need more specifics to support your hypothesis. Most Americans are over weight and eat unhealthily. In my case, I refuse to work the long hours. My contract said 45 hours and that is what I work. (There are obvious exceptions. I have worked 80 hour weeks.) That is one reason I will never get promoted. In my 10 year experience it is those that work 60+ hours a week that get promoted. I've held many the jobs before WM and working for WM is the top of the list as being the worst. Just read Dilbert for the past 5 years and you will know why. Why do I stick around? It gives me the best opportunity to save for retirement. My resume is always up to date and posted on the hiring websites. I have a recruiter friend that constantly throws me jobs. I am also actively applying elsewhere.

Now, I make sure I exercise and eat right. In fact, I have lost weight by doing this. The real issue I have is the stress of whether I will have a job day after day with all the rumors that go around. It doesn't matter if you are a high performer. Or work 80 hours a week. Or saved the company $2.5M on projects. (I did.) There is a bullet with everyone's name on it as the saying goes. But if I get an as good or better deal from another company, I will be gone like a fart in the wind.

WM is one of those companies that just takes and takes and takes. Until they break you or you quit. All my other employers didn't do that. If I am still here after 20 years, I sure hope they don't bring me to the anniversary celebration get me on stage to bring words of wisdom because I sure as hell won't have a job afterward.

Leave WM before you lose your sanity (or possibly, your life!) I could write for days about the number of associates I saw start out young and healthy, but after 1-3 years of WM's emotional and physical abuse (AKA: long hours) left burned out; over/under weight; on meds for blood pressure, anxiety and depression; and in some cases, broken marriages. I know because I was one of them!! And you can't tell me that these incidents were coincidental, or that we already had them when we hired on, because we didn't.

Seriously, leave that God-forsaken place before you lose everything mentioned above. Almost everyone I know who has left WM (voluntarily or not) is better off physically, mentally and in many cases, financially. There's a better world outside of WM!!

No "massive" layoffs, but layoffs nonetheless. I can't emphasize this enough: If you haven't updated your resume, do so ASAP. If you think you're safe-think again.

My business area had a meeting before X-Mas. They were told that changes are coming in January with no massive layoffs. Usually when leadership tells you one thing, it means the opposite will happen. In the meantime, my team has brought on 5-6 new associates in the past 8 months.

What I can say is that my team is 'acquiring' 4-5 new processes/apps all SAP related. We have had 3 hour KT sessions every day this week. To me that indicates that whole teams will be dissolved. Some of those associates will be RIFd or be absorbed by other teams.
