Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

How much time has Chuck left?

He typically gives two quarters for troubled groups to improve. He himself has now a year of failures, and declining outlook. How much time do you think he has left? Will he hang on for any cost or at some point call it a day and resign on his own, instead of waiting for being kicked out?

And who's going to replace him? Kelly?

Well, it's quite well 'managed' as in "keeping the paperwork flowing" managed. Being led though? They haven't a clue. Seriously the weakest management lead in tech, and that's saying something. They are like the two officers on the p--p deck of the Titanic worried whether a collision with an iceberg would bruise the olives for the martinis.

I worked at Cisco for a very short time, however I have been around the industry for ever. My judgement is that it is the weakest management team I have ever come across. Well most managers do not manage anything apart from the flow of information from the doers to the directors and above, so I call them aggregators. DSE's some good, many have their heads up their own back sides. Some great CSE's, very few sharp sales guys most are discount merchants, could not sell a glass of water in Middle of a Desert without discounting it 90%. As for Directors and above 3rd rate politicians who have been in the company 10 year plus, all they know is how to play the politics as their star is attached to another, they know when the sponsor goes , they go, so in the mean time head in the trough. As for company direction , what direction! There is not a single person who can tell you what the company trajectory is , is it Cloud, SDN/NfV, security, Collab, Hardware, Software and Services, all of the above , none of the above. I guess apart from sell what ever you can at what ever price there is no direction . Number 1 IT company, may be! After all anything is possible if you throw enough money at it and get the correct management in place, chances of it happening , less than 10% .

KvzMyeI-1mus - you're watching us?

What the hell can you do to us? Most of us are no longer working for Cisco, so you can't do one damned thing to us. We can watch you sink with your ship.

If Chuck doesn't make it for the long haul, then Cisco needs to bring in an outsider to lead the company. Someone who is not emotionally tied to the company and the way things operate. We need someone who can cut through the BS and make the hard decisions that benefit the company and not just the ELT.

Unable to deal with the challenges of today’s market, management is clueless as to how to turn around the business. Using new buzzwords or empty marketing will not get them anywhere. Shisco need to some really smart minds at the top rather then having clueless bozos.

I think he's got 18 months. Several dominoes have to fall before he goes. Revenue would have to keep falling in the core switching business. The Collaboration group would have to fail, which would kill prospects of a growing cloud business. And, then there would have to be a glitch in the growth of the Security group, which is the darling of Cisco right now. The final domino would probably be the failure of all of these acquisitions to add anything to Cisco's bottom line. Right now, I'd say the probably of all of these things happening is pretty high.
