With PCs transitioned into commodity, Intel had to replace experienced, highly skilled engineers with dumb out of college RCGs, ad long as they had their BS in basketweaving. Strictly cost reduction and did not improve skillset.

I have not found a compelling reason. To replace my computer I bought 4 years ago. The software I run doesn't need any more processibg power than I already have

Intel used to be a glorious brand, right up there with Maytag and Frigerdaire in excitement. BK better figure this out soon as the company is near ruin

I have an i3 Core laptop that is slow as molasses but it was cheap and as long as it works, i don't need anything new. if you aren't doing any complex graphics or spreadsheets or word processing, you don't need much more. I think Intel is used to the margins of the old days, when i86 PCs had a monopoly and there was no other way to get on the Internet. And way back when Intel was coming up, anyone who could engineer for i hardware as a living god and could demand high salaries, which the Intel monopoly and margins enabled. Those days are gone. PCs are now a commodity and there are many alternatives to i86.

PCs are yesterday's trend. Just a commodity nowadays. Consumer no longer going for current best performance. They buy them when needed, and treat them as disposables. Intel too dumb to understand this. Still sending Parsons and Phelps out to advertise performance. Waste.

I only buy a PC when the one I have dies.. no more chasing the performance curve. I remember 10-15 years ago the PC area at Costco was packed. The Verizon/tablet area is now the go to place with PCs a distant second.

I never understood going to doorbusters. I'd rather spend a little more and shop in a more civilized manner. Guess I will never understand american shopping culture.

Your statement that "no one purchases PCs anymore" is incorrect. I still purchase PC's @-xhn. In fact, I bought one a few months back.

Says a lot about the mind share of PCs. In days past a deal on a PC would get people up early. You needed and wanted and a better one gave you a better experience.

These days a deal on a PC is about as exciting as a refrigerator or washer. Don't care if it is 30 or 50 % off. If I got one that works i care little whether I get the newest for cheap.

BK and PSO have absolutely pissed away intel huge lead and profit maching into anything but milking the ink like HP does in printing, or Kodak in film / chems. Sadly intel is closer to Kodak than Hp at the moment as every new initiative has been nothing but money s---ing flop

Not true DQK. clearly you don't know how retail works. Best Buy basically cuts the prices on items to cost or sometimes at cost (manufacturer contract permitting). These are loss leaders just to get people in the store because once they are on the store, they will likely buy something else

The fact that there isn't many computers in these doorbuster deals means best buy is smart and doesn't think cheap computers are going to draw crowds because computers are already saturated in your average American household.

Things which are hard to sell are promoted more and need to be in front pages 😀.
