-1qjt, at least a layoff in January is better than June. The layoff this last June maximized the amount of taxes with held from the severance pay. Chevron should allow paying severance over 1 to 2 years time.
Haven't you yet understood that the are no chances for y'all at all? Layoffs won't tsp until the last one is gone. Chevron is disappearing every moment. As well as other western criminal oil companies aka brainless pumps of global criminals aka global socalled elite. But their time is gone. As the time of the USA , which is also instrument of global mafia for global control. International major banks are also instruments of the global mafia. Their time is also gone. Now it is time for powerful national governments of Briks and other countries. There are no USA , "great" Britain , Canada etc in that list. They are going to slowly become the new Third world countries, and their way to new life is going through civil war and terribli times when huge numbers of people are going to be eaten by thief neighbors and fellow citizens . My ETC group was reduced 35% last year. If there are anymore cuts they will probably just get rid of the group because there will be no people left to do any work.
Any further "mass" layoffs will be back office types. D&C has been hit hard, SASBU apart which will be culled Q1 2017. Production already pretty lean. Only place left is HE,ITC and ETC.
Layoffs haven't stopped and will continue through 2017. I know as I am one of the chosen for lay off in January.
Hope they send out the notice a week before Christmas like last year. That was a nice touch of class.

OP, I can't see Chevron doing anything in 2017 that will be labeled as layoffs. There will minor tweaks here and there, but that's all.
