70% of Intel processors will be manufactured on 14nm in 2017. It will take until 2019 to transition fully to 10nm.

Intel is so phucked, TSMC got 14 and 10 and now adding 12nm. Intel just has 14 with a +. You'd think BK would fire the head of TMG and LTD for such failure!
Cool TMG story bro
Here is a metric for BK and TMG
PAS for 10nm every one quarter 10% of EB bonus deducted from the GR 10 and higher folks up to the top
Yields on 14nm every 1 pt gap is 10% that is probably fair Prius value
Cost benchmark to TSMC 14 and 10nm every 1K / wafer is 10%
Hit those and you've earned your money or refund it!
Just as sick that BK gets a bonus for hitting his diversity metrics, while the company business is going down in flames. Makes me want to puke.
@1tnc and @1gsf got it right. The problem is that the same "management by metric" has now propagated to the rest of Intel. Just look at all the "quotas" for diversity representation. It makes me sick to my stomach. The only important thing is hitting the metric, without ever thinking if the decisions being made are what's best for the company.
@1uje - Exactly. TMG fell victim to management by metric. The metric of the moment HAD to be green, even if it drove horrifically bad business decisions and created needless churn in the organization. Anyone who pointed out the insanity was counseled/coached as not being a strong leader or team player. Those that blindly did what was asked while praising all the senior managers who created the madness were promoted. The behavior is now so ingrained in the org, I am not sure it can be saved.
It is really tragic.
TMG lived it's quarterly lives on fuzzy math and fudging it's own numbers. The criteria was always to "get the bonus" rather than realizing and telling the truth that the organization was flushing itself down the toilet.
There is soooo much waste in TMG. First thing Intel can easily do is fire 50% of the woefully, ineffective management. They simply don't need phony mgrs who have lost all their other skill sets. Next, they should sell off TMG because it is just a cash drain. They can buy cheaper, better technology than they could make, all because of the TMG deadwood.
Not soon enough!
after intel is made in china...ja ja ja
