Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Are the DC's running out of merchandise?

We received word yesterday that our store would probably go a few weeks in January with no DC deliveries. We normally receive at least 2 per week, 3 during peak seasons.

Member population was kind of an odd word to use and I would love to know which store's "member population" is only to willing to purchase whatever you put on your shelves.

I'll pretend I didn't see the man behind the curtain.

While only a store associate, I honestly believe each store's situation is different. I am convinced an announcement will be made in January or February identifying ### stores will close (that is the norm). Due to the decrease in demand, it is natural for a DC or two to also close. This requires the remaining DCs to shift their operations to accommodate supplying merchandise to a new grouping or stores. So, yes, it would make sense that store DC shipment schedules will be modified. The two holidays only add fuel to the fire.

My store is crammed pack with freight - we could use a break. We were "forced" to accept two DCs last Friday and I suspect the same was true yesterday (unless this week's included garden items I don't understand why we're so bloated). On the bright side, our member population is only too willing to purchase whatever we stick on our shelves, so product doesn't last long on the shelves. The problem: we lack manpower to GET product to the shelves. (I know: same old, same old.)
