Nothing is more compelling than scaling! Performance and value from scaling to the next node is what Moores Law is about!
Intel used the relentless tick tock and Moore's Law march to beat every company the last 20 years.
Now why oh why would they stop now as x86 sales slow and the invading ARMy assaults them from all sides? Nothing would crush the competitors like continuing the cadence and move to 10nm and 7 mm on the same cadence! But a funny thing happened over the past few years and the tipping point has been passed. Each successive generation has slipped the schedule and now it is so bad that we have FOUR generations of products on 14nm. The exact opposite has happened with the foundry as Samsung and TSCM have risen the ARMy to parity this year and leadership likely next year.
What with 10nm power /performance improvement and most of all double the density that would keep intel process lead and crush everyone, perhaps it isn't all that health and we have more painful ACTs coming 🙄🤔
Nothing about hating or loving intel, just the obvious reading the tea leaves 😉
