Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

When does Angola LNG come on line?

It was originally scheduled in 2012. We are almost in 2017. I think Chevron has at least 3 Billion sunk in this and counting. Need to generate some money or deep six it and all the overhead associated with it.

Cash drain at Gorgon is not over. Gorgon cost will be closer to $85 billion when you include plateau maintenance, drilling and compression projects coming up in the next several years. Getting to and sustaining the 15 MTA nameplate will require more debottlenecking spending. Don't expect 15 MTA before 2019.

Exxon and Shell were extremely active and influential partners in Gorgon and share every bit of blame. They had management and technical secondees up to and including Deputy PM. The partnership failed to forecast the impact of Australian labor on schedule, cost and quality.

Exxon and Shell are looking for long term replacement cargos for Gorgon volumes that will not be available due to Gorgon production problems and delays. Both are extremely disappointed in CVX project management. Gorgon final cost approaching 65 billion despite weaker Australian dollar.

If they had to do ALNG, Gorgon, Wheatstone, Bigfoot, JSM over again, they wouldn't do the projects. They are losers in every since of the word. What's sad is that folks view these projects as successes. We will successfully get some of our investment back over the next 30 years. Great job.....

Adze: You think we believe that? We all know it was a project that was a train wreck. Over budget and 2 years behind schedule and has has to be re-engineered twice that I know of. Go blow smoke somewhere else.

It's true, I inspected that facility. Been online most of the year and running very well. And they do have rights to nearly all the gas. Great project that managed some amazing technical and commercial hurdles. Quite proud of those guys. They pulled through in some tough times. Bravo!!

Final blame is on management who didn't ask the right questions, who didn't step in sooner to stop the pain. Incompetence is a word that comes to mind. That includes FE management that allowed contractors to disregard chevron engineering input. You reap what you sow

Any final blame for Gorgon problems resides with the operator

7zpr is correct, I work that field. You guys are just a bunch of ignorant butthurt losers on this site spouting unintelligible gibberish. You don't have a clue about daily production in your own fields. Get a life, losers.

I find it amazing that a few "know-it-alls" are controlling every discussion and bullying everyone else who may have a different perspective like 8ars.

And then there are those 9tnd who are just immature and obnoxious who just can't control their need to express their nonsense.

That "I got gas" fella might be able to keep the plant loaded. Just get plenty pinto beans, cabbage, eggs and beer.

Been online most of the year????

What website were you surfing?

Running remarkably well?

You must be running on a treadmill? Rights to all of the gas in Angola for free? I liken that last statement to me saying I have rights to all of the women in the western hemisphere. It is good to hear there is plenty of supply gas now to make up for the shortage that happens in a couple years. I'm sure all the new production that isn't being drilled now will supply the tonnage.

Been online most of the year and running reasonably well. And we have rights to nearly all the gas in Angola for free, so no issue on feedstock. Great project that managed some amazing technical and commercial hurdles.

FE of course and the managers who approved the design. They likely ended up in Australia. Should have been fired.

@-1vll - Where does the blame lie for the poor design of the propane system?

Chevron has been majoring in failures rather than successes in the last 5-6 years.

Gorgon won't produce at the 15 MTA capacity until 2019 or 2020. Poor design of the propane system will be a very expensive and multi-year repair. Expect low output in summer months and rarely hitting design capacity even in winter.

1mzk , You seem to be quite "butt-hurt" yourself about something as your post has nothing to do with the topic. I suspect that since the year's end is coming you fear that you will be cut out as a piece of the deadwood. No sense in worrying about it. Get back to work.

Get ready for the butt obsessed, dead wood troll to attack you guys for pointing out another stellar Chevron success story. See if you can get him to say it to your face though, since he seems to disappear quickly on that idea.

ALNG will never operate at its planned capacity. There is no guaranteed gas to supply it. Just build it, and we will figure out where to get the gas from later....well, it is built now. ALNG is probably the worst decision ever made, ever.
