Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

Furlough may equal unemployment. Strike back.

Speaking with several HR professionals, it was suggested that anyone who is furloughed should look into their state laws regarding unemployment. In Ohio, it was encouraged. Can you imagine how much unemployment costs would skyrocket for Honeywell if everyone applied? We could put an end to this treatment. Fight back.

I got UC for each week we have been furloughed, except for the first week back in Dec of 2015. That was the waiting week. Where I live, it is a rolling year based on the first week unemployed. So if we are not furloughed for a full year, I would have another waiting week. But, if we get furloughed a couple of weeks per year I will get paid. The pay is not much, but better than nothing.

But you have to apply. If you don't apply you will not start the clock ticking.

. We get screwed on one week furlough. IF you know something different let us know who and what office you went to

From William e. Morris institute for justice Web Site

  1. When Will Unemployment Insurance Benefits Start? The week you apply for unemployment benefits is called a "waiting week." This means that you cannot get unemployment benefits for that week. If you are found eligible, the second week you are unemployed will be your first week of benefits. Relevant state laws and rules: Arizona Revised Statutes section 23‐771.

Yes, do tell on AZ. My info has always been it the SECOND consecutive week that gets unemployment. So by doing one week ones they avoid the unemployment hit.

So, give us more information if you got a check for furlough time.

This is interesting, "Arizona is acceptable. I revived two checks already". How about giving us some specifics on how to apply? The unemployment website is information overload.

It's a loosing battle in Ohio. System is designed so the YOU CAN'T get your benefits. Even if you do, it is less than 500 (taxable). Had 7 of us file, and only 2 were successful. Any wrong move, and you are denied. The only phone number is overloaded that you can't get thru. And there is only one office - in Columbus. Not sure it is worth the hassle for only a few bucks...
