Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Should I give one or two weeks notice to leave ?

I'm currently on vacation and is not schedule to come back to work until well into January. It so happens that I received an unexpected job offer and have accepted. I feel that it is an opportunity that may not come easily in the future. Considering that i was impacted by ACT but was able to find another position just days from my exit interview, I have a feeling I'm going to have to deal with worrying about my job every year going forward. Hence, this new opportunity was way better than Intel can offer. I'm actually tired of being on redeployment twice in three years. I'm thinking of giving one week notice but others have suggested two weeks notice. I don't think I want to come back to intel in the future tough but at the same time I don't want o burn bridges. I love my time at Intel. I don't have any ill feelings toward intel. Actually, I'm grateful.

Any suggestion is greatly appreciated.

Why do people tell their current employer where they are going when you quit ? It's none of their business. Hello McFly.

.

When you leave, the golden rule is say as little as possible and never burn your bridges by badmouth ING anything. It is their problem to fix what is wrong with the company.

If you go to a competitor it matters little how many weeks you give you'll be walked the day you give notice.

Pack you all your personal items and start taking them home. Download all your personal things from your laptop as they will take that very quickly with HR and manager watching you!

Good luck and enjoy your next job. You are making a wise decision as the future of intel is ugly!

If you are lucky, while you are in vacation Intel will do another round of layoffs, and then you can also volunteer...See Intel is so big, you really can hide in the bureaucracy if you really want to. So you might as well milk it and try to double dip in paychecks as long as you can.🤔😅😎😂🤔😂🤔😅😋😅🤔😎😂😎😂

Unless you are working for a direct competitor at your new company, I would try to stay on Intel's payroll as long as possible, and burn through your accrued vacation before I give notice. Meanwhile, why you are on vacation at Intel, start your new job. That's what I do. 😊😊😂😁😄😁😉😚😎😊

That way, you can try your new company to see if it is better and if you don't like it, quit and still be at Intel. 😊😁😃😁😉🙂😚🙂😚😙🤗😉

If you like your new job, burning through your Intel vacation days before you give notice gives you the extra advantage that you get holiday pay through the days you are on vacation. If you just quit, they won't pay you for the holidays you would have gone through. 😂😉😙😉😊😄😋😎🤔

Burning through your vacation days, you can spend all your flex spending. It's especially great if you are transitioning at the beginning of the year your medical flex spending is fully funded even if it hadn't been completed deducted out if your paycheck. So for example, if you elected $3000 medical flex spending this year, that full amount is available immediately, even though by January payroll has only deducted 1/12 of the amount. If you are on vacation, you can spend that entire $3000 and then quit...Intel and the plan administrator is SOL. If you quit right away, only expenses incurred up to your last day is eligible.

🤗😉😙😉😄😊😍😆

If you burn through your vacation, you are still resting and vesting stock.gtsnts and espp. So make sure your best dates line up well.eith your termination date. Often it's just a matter of a few weeks.

🤔😂🤔😂🤔😂🤔🤔😊🤣:-!😂😂😅🤔🤔😎🤔😋

Give 2 weeks' notice if you can, but if you can only give one week's notice in order to start the new job when they want you to start give one week's notice.

You're smart. You can figure this one out.

Why not do both jobs? If you are exempt, you can milk it for a few weeks, maybe even longer. Take all the vacation, all the "WFH", or if you have a chance, I will be OOP. And then give 3 weeks notice and never show up. They cannot fire you. Why not?

If impacted by ACT then chances of getting back is somewhere between very slim and zero. I'd wager all bridges already has been burned (by Intel). If you are in an "at will" state I'd suggest just leave without notice (same notice as the ACT victims got).
