Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Well found out online the same day employees were told which is sickening. The employees should have been told before a press release was put out.

So telling the media and employees the same day is horrible.

I saw this article online on "business insider" about the Sears where I live Store 1325, is this true or BS?

So when they split a store in half. How does that work? Will it remain open during the process?

I worked on the Kmart side till 01/2014 till I was laid off.

I called the market recruiter for the Sears Stores in my area to see if the location that is closing is hiring. He said "That Sears Closing # 1325 is misinformation" I call that BS. That is a seritage property, he knows it is closing. It is on the list.

Just how dumb does this "Market/District recruiter" think I am, the list on line can be verified. The Sears on the list are seritage properties?

I know 1325 is not sure about the rest?

I wonder why there has not been an " official canned" press release for Sears 1325 yet? Anyone know why?

Yes. It was on the original list FYI that came out last Tuesday. It is not one of the soon-to-be-announced. I think some posters mentioned the lease expiration comment by higher ups are all BS. It has nothing to do with lease expiration. Some of them sure by happenstance but most are not expiring in 6 months. At least the ones on the list.

That Kmart in Honolulu has a lease that expires in 2021.

Please add Kmart Store #7680 (Honolulu, HI) to the yet-to-be-announced-mass-Q1_closing announcement. Evidently, despite high volume sales due to a captive customer base, the store was no match to its expiring lease.

Closing a Sears store in a "BUSY" mall ???? Fits in with a strategy of selling, closing, eliminating stores even if they 'might' be marginally profitable to then be able to lease out properties at higher rates to companies that can at least pay the rent.... however short a period of time that may be

I know exactly where store 1325 is at. I live in Charleston,SC that is a seritage property and it was already rumored to be closing. That is an extremely busy mall and I am not surprised it would be on the chopping block for closure.

I looked online for a closure notice, will the liquidation start in January 2017? Nothing has been announced yet.

I work at the Kmart in Savannah Ga and we have not been told we are closing? When is this coming out?
