Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Anyone know is Oracle RIF, how many days will be given before you need to leave?

Say they annouce this on Jan 17. Do you have to leave right away?

Anyone can share some insights? Much appreciated.

I wouldn't expect WARN even in CA. Oracle has never done/reported it yet that I know of.

Managers under JF received their HR training yesterday for what's to come next week.

Bottom line, don't expect WARN to apply to you if you are not in CA. Everybody else, will just get the basic one month plus one week per year (up to 6 months total) and out the door the same day. Those who get WARN get to stay for an extra 60 days (and of course, they'll deduct those two extra months from your severance).

Cuts will go deep. Good luck to everybody affected.

WIth SC on DJT's transitions team he will be very embarrassed if oracle treats laid off people like sh--, and dJT does not like being embarrassed. If you're not treated fairly scream bloody murder to the press which will be delighted to embarrass DJT

If it's a big as it sounds it will definitely trigger the WARN Act, if oracle tells you otherwise go to your state's Attorney General and ask them to investigate - they do that as a matter of course

This round won't be so kind. Be lucky if they have you one month pay and a week for each year and out the same day. Cobra will always be offered expect to pay out the butt.

Only layoffs that fall under the WARN notice get those perqs. If it is a onesie twosie layoff, you get nuked and out the same day. Jack Kennedy with nothing to hide, you were one of the lucky ones.

The Federal WARN Act requires 60 days notice & pay + benefits, so as a minimum oracle has to give you pay and healthcare for 60 days but they can tell you to get out that very day

I was let go in June 2016. They told us on June 1 with 30 days to find a internal job or take the buy out. At the end of the 30 days they paid you your final check and all unused vacation. They then sent out the package info. You signed and sent back. You got x weeks then on top a week for every year you worked all included up to 26 weeks. You also had insurance paid for a month then on to cobra if needed.

Although I was not thrilled at being laid off but I was very impressed at just how well Oracle treated us

From reading the messages here, there were/are US groups who got a warning that their jobs were going to be eliminated. I know other countries, like Germany, get a better deal since their society is different on that just like I know that all I got was a phone call that I was done with no warning and to expect the fedex truck.

You aren't getting notice this time.

As said earlier, labor laws differ in other countries where workers have more rights and by law the company has to give them notice. Of course, it still s---s for them to lose their job.

Just like in other countries, where people generally believe that healthcare is something that should be provided for all, you don't have to suddenly pay thousands of dollars a month to keep your health insurance via Cobra if you lose your job.

Oracle as a company is just sticking to the different local regulations (in this case, probably to its dislike), so this is not a case of Oracle being nicer to employees in certain geos.

Thank your local labor regulations. or lack thereoff.

Last round, their Oracle accounts were shutdown, and facility access stopped, at the end of their notification day. They were notified early in the day since a FedEx package was send to their home address the morning of their notification day.

BTW, they don't announce the RIF. Those being RIF'ed will get

a phone call or email informing them to come in to meet with

their respective managers who are trained prior to this meeting

to do exactly what the HR instructs.. I think u will be told to bring

in your badge, equipment (laptop), etc.. So, if u get that mail - just

come in the day before to pack & clean out. Yeah, grab some office

supplies while you are at it :-) Just kidding.

If you are nice they will give you the rest of the day to pack and leave, if you act irrational, they will have security to wait at your office to pack and escort you out immediately

Actually it can depend on your geographical location. In the US, it's the same day. In some European countries and the UK they get more notice (due to local labor laws).
