Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Too much fake news on this site!

There are too many posts on here stating there ars LR's all over the place. If it's not over 1000 people it's not an LR it's just human capital management.

Q2 results will be poor, but there won't be a big LR then there is no point. There will be a 7k+ LR in August as they adjust the business again to realign focus. Until then, go easy on the fake news or complaining about 25 people getting canned, as it ruins the point of the forum.

Calling it "Human capital management" vs a "LR" vs a "Workforce Reduction" vs a "layoff" is playing word games. I'm sure that in the minds of the finance people and execs making the decisions, there is a distinction. In the minds of those impacted what you call it is less relevant than whether they lost their job.

Everyone, needs to accept that Cisco will continue to take actions that will impact a portion of their work-force on a regular bases for financial not performance reasons. In some cases the number of people impacted will be small, in other cases it will be large. If I were a betting man, I'd say that in all likelihood in the not to distant future there will be another VERY large round. Armed with that knowledge people can make their decisions appropriately about continuing to be employed at Cisco, or taking a job at Cisco.

Playing semantic word games about what you call them does a disservice to everyone.

What ! In the all hands last week, it was stated that Yvette needs to implement a 30% OPEX reduction in Fy17! How is she going to do that apart from ordering less paperclips?

NDS/Video Team have already been told there will be reductions.

With the demise of Intercloud the Billion Dollar plus white elephant, teams will be leaving.

Human Capital Management , as opposed to LR or layoff's choose your own buzz word, in Cisco world, there is never any new strategy or products , just a new buzz word. So call it what ever.

The increasing "Rah-Rah", "Everything is great" posts leads me to believe this site is now on the radar of Cisco HR. Pretty typical 'damage control' or dare I say "Alternative Facts".

How is it fake news when dozens of people lose their jobs? Tell that to them! 25 people here and 10 people there - it all adds up to savings of hundreds of thousands of dollars for the bean counters. And if it wasn't a factor why are the Cisco HR trolls suddenly trying to deny any and every Layoff reported on here? It doesn't have to be thousands of layoffs to be newsworthy!

The fact remains that Cisco are chipping away at their older and more expensive workers continually. It is also a fact that some of these are replaced with red badges and graduates that don't know their a$$es from their elbows.

People just like to feel special so they post nonsense and overreact to things.

I'm not dignifying this with a complete response. The posts are accurate, even the negative ones. Stop with the "fake news" BS.
