What I have heard is some of the staffs in ETC (don't know how many) have been given notice that their positions are no longer needed, so they need to find another position through the upcoming PDC.

Word is that 50-100 folks across the ETC org getting the axe.

Zero transparency on these actions from management. Not the way to lead the company through tough times.

Chevron manages via processes rather than leadership.

-7dcl. There is a rather obvious reason engineers don't advance beyond the BS: there simply isnt much else to learn in that field and advanced degrees require innovation and creativity. I like how the well-known Caltech theoretical physicist frames it: "Engineering. Where the noble semiskilled laborers execute the vision of those who think and dream. Hello, Oompa-Loompas of science.". That pretty much nails it.

7dc1- what you wrote is disrespectful and your ignorance about what ES function does. Don't want to give you any legitimacy but very simply put you won't be making your spreadsheets or running workflows in Gocad/Petrel unless the Geoscientists discovered the field in the first place. So be nice to them.

I like how 90% of PE are BS degree but ES requires at least a Master's. Give me your office number and I'll send along some seismic lines for you to interpret if you get tired of linking formulas in your reserve spreadsheet.

Apologies in advance if this seems harsh but, as a PE, I do not mourn ES cuts. The functions are on the same pay track but the work responsibilities and level of effort required to become proficent in the job function are not close to being even. As a PE I can read a log and write a geostats code or two and certainly can use gocad/petrel Mickey Mouse functions from A to Z. Can an ES do PTA, reserves, IPM or flow simulation? ES cuts is one of the smart moves. Justice finally served.

Numerous more staff cuts in Earth Science last week in ETC. management and HR very stealthy about it - rude shock to all the staff. No advance notice. ETC had been signaling that most cuts would be in Facility Engineering. Process improvement needed, and some Leadership 101.

HR knows about severance. The Board has already voted on that. The CIP reduction and CEO's stock option cuts were voted on also.

Great performance last year. You are lucky to be getting anything. I shaved another stroke off my golf handicap. Thanks everyone. -JW

vtw, does this mean that it is a flat increase year? Or are you saying that the success sharing is cancelled? I am no longer in the network to know the answer. It will impact me. Thanks

@vtw, I'm a Chevron retiree from April 2016. Was the Corporate Factor just announced? If not, when is the Worldwide Teleconference going to take place? Thanks.

Given the CIP insult to all employees, your situation may change. Chevron just told all employees that they no longer pay for performance so many close to retirement may be well suited to leave earlier than expected. Why work if one is not compensated fairly.

Must moves are associated with the duration of the assignment ending, position going away, expat having to return, etc. In cases of organizational change where positions are being cut, that would translate into a must move. The timing of the organization change is dependent on many things including budgetary.

Must moves term not restricted to expats. Cuts made at all PSGs

You all don't get it? Where they must be moved to is back home since there's no jobs.

How are you a must move in ETC? I thought must moves were associated with government stay/visa limits, closure of a job function, etc. My experience is that ETC is where the bulls are indefinitely put out to pasture (when you have a high PSG). Must moves have priority ... don't sweat it.

And there are no open jobs in the Spring ES, PE and FE PDC, with Must Moves still unplaced from the 2H16 PDC's. This will be ugly.

If you don't get anything in PDC, Are they offering severance?
