Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Apple making custom ARM chip for use in laptops.

Not replacing the core processor....Yet... But moving towards that.

I smell a Mac.desktop soon using an AMD Ryzen chip.

Apple is our friend as long as they can use us to keep QCOM honest.

But, who is keeping us honest?

The real oppty is designing out intel specific dependencies for management etc so easy to switch intel or Amd. Maybe ARM but I bet amd would license design to apple for cheap if they wanted.

With 10nm at TSMC Apple will discover they can make competitive ARM cores for MACs and with intel face plant on 10nm and miss guided 7nm Apple will design and transition to their own cores built at TSMC.

The cost for a ARM quad core is going to be 30-50 bucks versus intels heavily discounted prices makes it more than compelling as Canonlake and Icelake are so late Apple needs a real product roadmap
