Thread regarding Qualcomm Inc. layoffs

Life after Qualcomm

I was laid off in November of 2015. Months leading up to November were very stressful. I thought I'd be among the last people on my team to leave. Still, I was prepared for the worst. I thought I won't be affected much if was let go, but when I was notified by my director, I was devastated. My last two months at Qualcomm were depressing.

I found a job not too long after leaving Q. I had almost forgot about the entire debacle, until I stumbled upon this website again today.

My last year was extremely productive. I grew professionally tremendously. The company I work for is growing and I am extremely happy. My advice to those who are thinking of taking plunge and take up a new job is to do it. Life is short, stress is not worth it.

Take care!

I left Qualcomm 3 years ago.

I left Xerox 30.5 years ago.

Qualcomm is no Xerox. Qualcomm never was a Xerox.

I earn 2.5x my former Q salary, at Google, and I am finally happy, again, after many years of frustration and pain at Qualcomm. Qualcomm s---s all the fun out of work with the BS managers who sit on their asses and do nothing, the H1B anvil levitating over everybody's head, and if a Q manager is productive, then the whole project is a waste of time, they get you coming and going.

Intel has Murthy though. It was his style of management at Qualcomm that made me leave.

I am also at Intel, not great, but much much better than Qualcomm Corp R&D in SD

Intel is very good: every quarter bonus, annual bonus, once a year review, mentor ship program, education reimbursement, nice working environment, less stress and bullshxt. I am very happy I left 6 mo. ago.

Left when it first started going downhill. Didn't play the a$$kissing game and focused on doing good work so I didn't get very far there.

I'm now making 3x my salary there at a much healthier company and environment. They made it seem like the world and there was nothing outside. There was a time when the QC brand was strong in SD but these days most of the folks I talk to around town see it as a joke. I feel bad for friends who are still there and having to deal with the toxic environment

Toxic company and toxic jobs. Get out if you are unhappy.

At the end of the day, I am more happy to work for less $.

Rather than kissing someone a.s for better pay , bonus, or promotion.

That is unethical IMHM.

Let's play fair.

Look at the jealous guy, probably is one of those who will never get hired by other company as he never developed any skill.....kissing Axs does not count as skill

I left on my own at the end of 2015 as well. Got fed up with all the politics and endless meetings about nothing. Took a big pay cut but life has been much better ever since. Work life balance has returned and doing productive work. One of my better choices in deciding to leave QC.

I left Qualcomm on my own about a year ago. The work environment at Qualcomm is toxic. I'm MUCH happier now at my new company. I even have my weekends back.
