She is no more lousy than most of the other Intel brass. Most of them are average at best and they get promoted for just coming around often and producing presentations with pie charts and big numbers. They don't have to actually make projects or products successful, they just have to convince a few managers that they are going to be successful. Maybe she couldn't convince Murthy. After all, you can't bullsht a bullshtter.
She was a lousy CIO that incredibly got promoted. It amazes me how long these people last.
She quit, she wasn't fired.
Maybe she assumed BK would bribe her 10 to 20 million to stay.
OP: "how professional"? she's lucky she didn't get walked out and had a chance to announce it. Bad circumstance overall.
Unless she was walked by Murthy (not an impossible scenario), she very likely sent an internal email to friends and colleagues. In the end, she was in the wrong job anyway, so it is the right move.

Murphy is notoriously hard to work for. He's on his third admin. He was brought in to be a hatchet man.
