Thread regarding Humana Inc. layoffs

"Shuffled like a deck of cards"

Well said!!! As someone posted, we are being "shuffled like a deck of cards"!!!!! Really? Is that what you hired a group of proffesionals for? One day is one thing, the other day is something else.

This job is already very lonely as it is and the numerous changes and you dismantling the teams is not helping at all! Can you please have some heart, get your act together and stop the craziness? We need to feel secure, we need to work with our team, we are passionate about our members but do you think that with all this uncertainty and constant shuffling of the cards we can be efficient?????

We are scared, we are heartbroken, we are frustrated, we are sad..... Please let us do the job we were hired to do!

They don't want us to have security. I think they are trying to get the HCMRN's to quit. I said shuffling of the cards, it's exactly what they did about 4 years ago! They let 2 coaches go per COM and not replacing nurses who have left. I'll bet the coaches they let go had the lowest productivity or stood up for us. I think now they will continue to let RN's quit without replacing and continue to layoff coaches when they have less need and the coaches will be pushing us to make even higher numbers so they keep their jobs. It's very cut throat and sickening and they are doing it on purpose!!

I was thinking about MF's meeting. What could have been said that would make me feel better? I think the big question is: Will there be more lay-offs? The answer given was "concentrate on your members," which translates to "be scared and produce." I think any answer would have been better. Will there be more lay-offs?..."Yes" or "No" or "maybe" or "there is a % chance" or "we will re-evaluate in months." The secrecy and vagueness and hushed talk of confidentiality is making the anxiety, stress and paranoia worse. This is a poorly managed process and has made morale even worse then the lay-offs alone were. It should have been a clean strike, rolled out all at once. Humana is being hugely irresponsible with associate's livelihoods. No one can take a breath because even if we weren't let go, we still feel like we are in the crosshairs. Why are they allowing this uncertainty to linger? Get your act together!
