Welcome to the Cisco family.
Through a source that I will keep undisclosed, layoffs are coming no doubt! All areas of company are affected.
No LR will be announced. But some small teams shall be gutted.
My team is going away because of the acquisition.
Lists are in, but 5K seems way too pessimistic. My BU will be gutted in the first week of March, but I'm not hearing anything that would indicate numbers that high. (Most of us know if we're getting a package or not, but it's clear from the false numbers being reported up through Doran's org, that the fix is in, and it's just a matter of time before our customers are all out in the cold. If the survivors are lucky and bust their asses, they can keep the number of CAP cases that'll follow to under a dozen. Hopefully.)
Heres hoping the OP is correct
Just like the past LRs were fake but somehow they appear on national news websites.
All the comments saying it's fake are coming from corporate. Quit denying everything!
Deffinately fake news. No more mass LR's until August. Yay!!
I'm still reeling from being laid off in 2015. My severance package got me taxed in the highest tax bracket instead of counting it as 2016 income (therefore losing most of the credits and deductions I would have otherwise been able to take), and in 2016 I had to withdraw funds from my 401(k) in order to keep my house. Now I owe over $15,000 in taxes (I had taxes taken out at the time of distribution--this is the penalty phase). So Cisco layoffs are the gift that keeps on giving. Good luck to those affected, and try your best. It to touch your retirement! :-)
I guess we'll have to wait and see what transpires. I'm optimistic, but part of me thinks we will have to wait until August for the next big LR. No disrespect to the dozens who continue to lose their jobs every month as Cisco chip away at their more expensive/older workforce, but I'm talking about an LR in the thousands. Hope I'm wrong!
This is definitely a fake story. No LR coming in February. Who knows about end of Q4 / Q1 but for now we are safe.
The sad fact is that back in the early 2000s the layoffs, whilst sad and brutal, felt like they had a purpose. It was unpleasant but felt necessary.
The post-2008 layoffs have all seemed to fit some kind of psychopathic need to cull. No doubt some kind of (age + grade + rand()) Excel spreadsheet formula is being used to figure out who to axe.
Yes, there will be lucky ones who are pushed before they drown. I know a few who took the package and a month later took $30k payrises elsewhere. They're the very lucky ones. I suggest everyone else starts seriously looking to jump as soon as possible!
Amen!
But I have the feeling this is another fake troll
Are we sure this is not fake news? We just had a rather huge layoff
ELT does not care about employees being laid off they do not lose sleep over this. In fact they throw expensive parties for saving the shareholders money and none of you are invited.
No one is safe in this LR.
Getting laid from Cisco can be profitable. I know several people from the Collaboration group that were laid off in August and they found jobs before their packages expired. So, they turned a profit.
Good for them. I found a job before my package expire too, so I guess I made a profit too. But the disruption to my life is not worth it. I had to move my family to relocate for the new job. We've moved away from our life & friends. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad I'm not still in the middle of the mess that is Cisco, but I miss my friends and I miss the community I was part of.
Sure getting laid off is profitable, if you're a blue badge. Red badges get nothing and rarely get any notice beyond a few days.
"Chambers Cisco (most of his tenure)"
Executive team and board = stakeholder
Shareholders = stakeholder
Partners and channels = stakeholder
Customers = definitely stakeholder
Employees = stakeholder
"Chuckles Cisco"
Executive team and board = stakeholder
Shareholders = stakeholder
Partners and channels = only if we have to we will treat them as a stakeholder.
Customers = sometimes stakeholder
Employees = who cares? They are all just cost centers on a spreadsheet anyway.
