Job Coding Weirdness

Coded on payroll as one thing and one schedule as another . Sometimes I'm more then one code in same week. Anyone else noticed the weird coding? Oh I do none of the jobs I am coded for either.

THAT'S what they're doing in my store then. Or some version.

I know about the help ticket but I've seen that if the person is actually changing jobs. The situation I mentioned is you're a cashier, no you're a MCA, no your consultative sales with the low hourly rate. But you haven't applied or really done anything different.

Im the guy who gave the 2 reasons...

The person who posted this below me is correct BUT incorrect

The official way NOW is to submit a help ticket....however the OM and SGM have the ability to switch jobs codes, if they have been around long enough and know the systems....

I used to re-categorize associates and their direct supervisors all the time....this used to be available on the OLD 88 sears...and oracle

If it's Sears, all job code changes require a Help Ticket put in that the hr coordinator answers.

Sears or KMart? At my Sears any questions about job code irregularities are met with passing the buck and no real answer or explanation.

The time it becomes important is when you're coded for commission sales at a rate lower than state minimum wage. Supposedly you get brought up to minimum wage with an adjustment on your paycheck but when you do the math, guess what? It's close but not exact. And who's favor is it in? You guessed it. Sears.

Wow....I cant believe all these "theories".....anyone in store management knows exactly why your job code keeps changing

Only 2 reasons:

  1. Theyre shirting around people to cover their IBO matrix, which they had been getting big on

  2. The main reason...job codes dictate job "goals"....example, an MCA has a lower credit goal than a cashier...cashier was 1 credit app for every 13 purchases not made on a Sears card....MCAs its 1 out of 25....Tools was 1 of 25....cashiers and HA have the hardest goals to obtain credit, you just have to know the IBO....and they change it every year, just like "what is parity".....each dept is different for partity, so thats why no one ever gives you an "exact" number

Big issue with this is if you are working in a diffeent area than your original code. Reason being if you work more in another area than your own and let's say there is a pay difference you are entitled to that pay which means you must work the mojorty of your hours in YOUR job code otherwise the company is benefiting by paying you a lower wage but doing a higher paid job with different reaposibilities. If I were you I would look a little deeper into it and also look for a different job

It's to make the staffing matrix correct, just be grateful you have hours
