Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Greater GOM initiative.

Will there be an annoucement of any substance at tomorrow's townhall? Or will leadership drag this out for another few months?

The whole GOMBU operates as a distraction. Learn to be less distracted by distractions real or imagined. Safety... Can't use this distraction anymore, this went out with high oil prices.

As this whole dang thing drags out with threats of layoffs an all, i hope we can continue to operate safely in a pretty damn distracting environment. But guess they are using "chip-dip" so we should all be confident the right decisions will be made.

Sounds like a smart move and chance to cut HQ Staff and admin by half or more. North America should merge more profit centers.

GOM-hater is back. My experience has been just the opposite. Great people with unique culture. But I try to get along with everyone whether or not we share the same worldviews. I hope you find your safe-place someday.

Cut it loose - too many good, professional people have passed through that bigoted BU and vowed never to go back. Its not aligned with the rest of the company and its to embedded in the hate of NOLA against people coming in from anywhere else. Nobody goes back to GOM after experiencing the pathetic, childish and fascist office environment. People run to HR over not backing in to parking places or holding the handrails. Its a disgrace.

Actually no news was not to be expected. In the TH, JS specifically mentioned a letter by Friday. But those who heard that are still employed and thankfully so. Giving JS & GGOM team benefit of doubt here. Tough decisions when balancing alignment with Permian focus yet remaining poised for DW resurgence. Workforce morale back to square one. Hope that changes for the better soon. Dont need more distractions as we execute 2017 biz plan.

No new news, but that was to be expected. Next week will be interesting for both GOM and DWEP. If you were not part of GGOM, then you will see changes made.

OP, if your concern is not brought up at the town hall, why don't you ask your question on the live telecast? Grasp the microphone and enjoy your 15 seconds of fame.
