Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Adventures with Sears Part I

As fate would have it, they didn't close our store because suffering must to made to last as long as possible with Eddie. Sometime during the middle of last week FLS decided to assemble a gazebo out in front of the auto center. Well, this ought to be worth the price of admission I thought. One of the appliance guys was just shaking his head and I joked that they should have it done by the middle of next week. Well, it is now the middle of next week and it is not done and in fact there seems to be a ways to go on it yet. I helped a tiny bit but I am not supposed to be there.

I would help more and we would have been done with it but we can't do that because our DM thinks it is a good idea for his district to essentially prank phone call other auto centers and waste their and our time with fake questions about tires. Our DM likes to use profanity in his emails to his managers too because that is professional.

Someone is going to get hurt. They literally have female cashiers running power tools and on ladders. Eddie wanted two different companies. So the gazebos sits in pieces and nothing has been done since last Friday. It's partially assembled and the ladders and tools are still out there and the customers are walking around it and under it. What could possibly go wrong?

There are no potential liability issues with this? Seriously? I am going to hand write a "Think Safety" Sign with a black Magic Marker that I will bring from home (because you could not find one in the store even if you looked) on the back of some old Elf Tested Santa Approved cardboard that still seems to be everywhere.

What else was I expecting?

No progress today. Sorry ladies it's not about you, have been various males attempting the feat as well there but it never works out. No one has worked on this project in almost a week.

Are you in a warm weather climate? With the almost gazebo.

For the record us Sears employees wear many hats too while running around. Running around because the are so few employees. Not because the store is so busy.

I don't envy the KMart workers up the street though. They do seem to have it bad & be set up for failure. From what I've seen -- both places have 2 types of employees. Ones that work like dogs & ones that do nothing. No in between.

Neither store does anything to check the customers out quickly. I know it's Corp mandates but it's running off the remaining customers. Everyone on hear knows this though.

I work at a Sears and most of the cashiers are High School Teenagers, some I think could handle a power tool and others both male and female that I would not even ask to plug one in for me. I am not sure if minors (people under 18 years of age) can use power tools. If it is not an OSHA regulation then it makes sense for companies to not allow minors to use power tools or lasders seeing as how if they get hurt the employee may sign off on getting workmans comp and and be convinced all is good but their parents may sue.

A Kmart employee does 99 percentages of all jobs during their shift. And we are frowned upon if we don't have a smile on our face..

OP Here. But our K-mart is closed. Not that very young woman who hired to be cashiers can't do the job of assembling a gazebo. I am sure that they must have done some Segno training. My bad on that.

Think you need to spend the day at Kmart if you have a lack of faith in lady power, working in a store that is 90% female I can honestly say they work 100% harder then the 10% of males working their.. I honestly think all the sears people would appreciate their job more once you walked the shoes of a Kmart employee.. Kmart associates, are the cashier, truck unloader, manager, and only member service associate on the floor, not to mention completing resets, data, replenishment, and recovery..

If you saw the female cashiers that work for Sears you would understand the statement was a definition and not s-xist.

Duly noted.

What's wrong with a female using power tools or being on a ladder. Just because they are female and are a cashier doesn't mean they don't know how to use a power tool! That was a really s-xist statement. It would have been better to say, "they are having cashiers use power tools".
