the problem was not a real design issue but more fundamental :-(
FDIV level FUBAR
This is intel's low power and lower cost competitive response to ARMy assault on server. Looks like a complete failure like every other intel attempt at competing directly with ARMy and now the ARMy is on 10nm beating down on Xeon severs and next year on 7nm. Intel's server line is going to have serious pricing pressure and why the DB announcement last week. Next two years are ugly 😉
