Thread regarding Sears layoffs

The BBB Is A Fraud

I have long thought that the BBB is a complete fraud but now I have concrete proof. I am sure that many of you are aware of this fact but for those who are not let's explore my assertion. As you know I am a SHLD associatee. I waste a lot of hours reading everything that I can about SHLD. I also spend a lot of time reading and researching anything related to finance and business. Perhaps I may have missed a post regarding this is the past but I try to stay on top of what this board says.

This one is pretty easy to figure out and I want to present evidence. First, we need to go to the BBB website.

Don't skip ahead. Paste the link and look at it. Do you notice any issues that jump off the page? What does the BBB rate Sears as? A+.

"Sears Holdings Corporation has received 3.70 out of 5 stars based on 681 Customer Reviews and a BBB Rating of A+."

Wait a minute now, what is the customer rating in percentage points? I am reading 1% positive, 2% neutral and 107% negative. I assume we are all reasonably good at basic maths. Perhaps I am mistaken but are we not seeing a base 110% metric instead of a base 100% metric.

What does that even mean? Does that we POd 7% more customers then we ever even had? I can believe it. Read some of the most helpful reviews. This one is my favorite.

Rant - Sears.com is a joke. Please do not ever place an order through them. I ordered a refrigerator on Black Friday. Sears has charged me twice for the same refrigerator. They have cancelled my order so my refrigerator that was supposed to be delivered tomorrow is NOT coming. Sears has told me in 7-10 business days I will be refunded the over $2200 they withdrew from my bank account. In the mean time, Sears has told me I can reorder the refrigerator, I will have to pay again, even though I have already paid for 2 and delivery will be in 4 weeks instead of tomorrow. On reorder, I will not get 10% off or $100 back in shop your way reward points that I got with my first order. Please be warned to watch your bank account if you order from Sears. Very disappointed, we have been searching and saving for a refrigerator for months. What a disappointment to wait 6 months for a Black Friday sale only to have Sears mess the order up and refuse to honor their prices or refund our money times two. Will never shop at Sears again.

Every time someone says they are going to put in a complaint with the BBB my managers just laugh.

They know it will not do any good.

It has to be skewed with length of years in business and paying to be in the BBB.

I wouldn't say it's a complete fraud, but the BBB's methods definitely aren't getting to the truth about SHC. Look at that huge negative review score. I'm not sure how they come out to 107% negative but it's obviously not good.

I think in general the BBB ratings are skewed to the positive. I've gotten some good information from the BBB in the past. But much of the time they are missing the reality of the situation. They have a complicated grading system, which takes into account such things as "length of time in business". So Sears and Kmart get points there. And maybe SHC pays more attention to official BBB complaints. For sure they are missing the picture here.

This makes me wonder if the rumors are true. Is raising ones bbb rating a matter of paying fees?

You would be correct about the paying member/rating part. Now you can laugh at any member who threatens you with such an action. The biggest joke is that people think the BBB cares about them or is some .gov entity.

Nope. We're Sorry.

I've heard that if you're a paying member business of the BBB, you don't get a bad rating.

And yes, Sears has p+ssed off an extra 7% of customers. As an associate, I hear the anguish, I read it in my Sears.com & the Facebook page. Customers feel betrayed. They believed in Sears. And I don't think they feel like members of anything.
