Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Verizon's Dividend / Free Cash Flow Ratio is Unsustainable. Yahoo Acquisition or Sales of Assets Required

This article notes how Verizon will not be able to continue current dividend payouts unless it finds a new revenue source or sells assets. Pretty scary stuff if you ask me. But at the same time they also recommend the stock lol!

@3ibb - Not an opinion of the OP, but a financial expert as a link to an article detailing this was posted.

Also, when it comes to numbers, there is no opinion. There is only what the numbers show and they don't lie.

I don't get the OP. I'm making 24 million dollars a year, things look great here. Please elaborate on your post, sorry if I sound ignorant.

One thing to note about SA, there is NO requirement to post there.

So the comments may be professional, or Amateur (some better then the pro).

So we do not know the value of these posts or the OP opinion.

Exactly -3nmf, you don't see Viacom or Sony or Facebook planning on becomming a Telcom giant. Google stuck its big toe in the Telcom pool and got its nuts slapped trying to deploy fiber. Even though Google is rethinking its strategy, it still was smoother and faster than VZ's FIOS deployments which speaks volumes about the leadership at VZ.

@2zoz - That's right, as long as you don't need to work for a living, the outcome doesn't really matter. That's why your not snooping around on this layoff site right?

And....Back in the sand goes your head.

Nobody cares is right. This guy's wet dream is to become some media giant. Not only will that NEVER happen. He is destroying all his avenues of income in the process. Little to no education in business. No experience actually running a company of this size. His wireless experience is .... All puffery. His answers to wall street are all to buy more time. A 63 year old nobody is at the helm. God save the employees. Low Mac the loser shoulda went in the ground instead of Susan.

You guys at Verizon need a new leader. AT&T went through this years ago. Your CEO and his cronies need replaced. He is totally out of touch with his customers and employees. He is causing near irreparable harm to both. Replacement by a better man is the only solution.

Verizon need to be doing more PR as AT&T is doing, Air Gig, G5, fiber expansion, TW merger,, IoT new platform, domain 2.0, SDN, on Ramp, CCDP, exec upcast, Direct Now, many of those are phantom projects but the news and idiot Wall Street loves

Verizon becoming a media company? Well, judging by the news around Go90, we won't do a very good job. We don't do original content very well, and we're hot for millennials who aren't hot for what's offered to them.

What I don't get is how anyone believed the story that we could give away cheap content and expect the advertising to generate significant revenue. The math just doesn't add up. This is an example of desperation meeting ego. A couple of senior executives decided that was a good idea and pushed it to the exclusion of any other opportunity. Not invented here..... at an individual level.

Yahoo is damaged goods and getting worse every day. Whatever talent they have, many of them are going to want to leave. Verizon's culture doesn't mesh well with Silicon Valley.
