Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Latest UK Organisation News

The axe is swinging. New org changes and leaders put in place are laughable, no vision or communication. What does this tell you about the state of things?

@jchq we are focusing on the real rotting problem. Get rid of these folks and you will have a transformation take place in morale and sales!!!!!!!!!! Witches rule.

People, this type of discussion is not for this forum. Keep opinions about individuals to yourself. It is not conducive to any dicussion about the real concerns.

The reorg is a long-term hatchet job to decimate the architectures team.

Not a bad thing mind, a lot of the PSS and CSEs in there probably need a good solid kick.

Don't forget the diversity card. Over run by dragon women who just b--ch and fight for resources and airtime and can't get up stage without notes to read from or repeat same old upgrade your network messages!!! Got no idea on tech or charisma. It's women's day today not dragons day and that is what have in UK leadership.

Nuff garbage in U.K. Architecture and partner org teams. Waste of space. Some SEM who are so called CTOs need to go as they are a joke.

Did even know we had a Swindon office. Oh well, best of luck to those effected. There is still a huge amount of fat in the UK org. I'm sure a lot can be trimmed with little effect on business.

Can confirm Swindon site is going through LR. Am on way out. Chandlers next as site full of naysayers just wasting time and money.

Truthseeker, you don't have a clue what you are talking about. Wait until you become an aging techie and get laid off and see hiw you feel then. Cisco goes out of their way to lay off people 50+ years of age.

1) This has been going on since at least the 1980s at other companies

2) Most people don't take pride in their work at any age in any country I've worked with even with awards and bonuses, and this is in no way limited to Cisco or even the technology sector (what country's unofficial motto is "never have a hangover on your own time?")

3) Even the hatchlings at Cisco are writing code that would be considered garbage 40 years ago in a high school course

4) For the desired average age of 25 in engineering you can assume most people come in after a four year degree at 22 and note a surprising small number actually leave through attrition, meaning you should want to gain useful skills somehow before you hit 30 because the long term cutoff won't be much higher than that

5) Other companies which have only hired out of college since the 1990s aren't going to hire you in your 30s, and without skills they are the only companies for which you will be qualified

Anyone questioning the power of brown nosing should probably leave corporate life and get a career in something else. It is a fact that to get ahead you need to do it. Their is not a single person in senior roles at Cisco or any other company who hasn't done it. If you're too proud then that's your problem.

Promoting weak people and fans creates a castle around yourself. No one promotes anyone at that level unless it has a benefit to themselves.

A pattern of promoting incompetence is clearly evident. The amount of VPs & Directors that reward employees to look the other way of failed initiatives is mind boggling. Cisco will make a great case study.

Just seeing all these threads on UK org. Embarrassing for cisco that people feel like this. Smear svp should look into the ballsup going on. Shame on leadership team or the 'Board' as they are called or is that the 'Bored'. Talking about promoting idiots. How about the new architecture leader!!!!!!!! What a duck up.

There are several experts in the art of brown nosing VPs in the UK. For advice and mentoring in this vital skill contact this years most ginger Chairman's Club winner or his less then useless manager. Both received promotions this year and both have forgotten what fresh air smells like.

PS was a great leader and kept the politics below him. Seems like SG has a different approach and puts himself right in the middle of it. I've sat next to him while he's been on one of his calls and it is all politics. Those who PS kept in their place, will start to rise up now and the culture will be ruined in the UK for a long time. Good luck to anyone thinking results and work ethic is going to get you places, it is now all about how much you laugh at people's jokes, hanging around Bedfont Lakes pretending you're busy and brown nosing your VP.

Good riddence to the bunch of aging techie folks who only seem to work if you given them an award or bonus them. No pride in what they do the fcukers.

Haha. Here is a little known fact. Each of the last 3 inclusion and diversity leads put in place have all been axed. Maybe it's a blessing that the latest person put in place might finally go for heavens sake. Best poison chalice in Cisco. But given its so close to the heart of our cel who talks to only his small group of buddy chums and no one else, who cares about the topic.
