Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Shame on you SHC

After nearly 18 years of service you laid me off on 1-19-17. I returned my severance docs to you 4 days later. I have spent countless hours re-faxing and re-faxing documents, emailing documents, and sitting on hold with 88 sears. A month later, I am still sitting here without a penny of my severance or untaken vacation. I can't decide if you are acting in bad faith regarding your promise to pay me or if you are just so inept you can't figure it out. Thank God I made a decent salary and my 4 kids are not going hungry and we are not facing foreclosure or eviction. Unfortunately, this is not the case for the other 6 employees who you laid off at my store who have yet to see a penny either. I am begging you, please man up and take care of your obligations.

have some sympathy- its hard for eddie to pay severance with the daily $7 million losses, never mind the pension deficit and debt mountain...

I just want you to know I was in the same position you are in. I was also laid off on 1/19/17 and it took a lot of work on hold with 88sears before I got anything, but eventually I did get my first payment. My HR had to call for me as well. It's not Easy but I did get it this week. I think they are so backed up from all the lay offs they did that it's taking time to process everything.

I am sorry to hear that. What state are you from? Did your store close or cuts?

bad faith. You were entitled to vacation pay the day you were laid off . Contact your state government responsible for such labor treatment. You should have walked out of the place with check in hand in most states

If you live in California the employer has to pay you your unused vacation on your final paycheck. It's the state labor law.
